172/182 plus

Post by Marco909 »

Hi, it has been a while since I bought any A2A aircraft, mainly because I'm waiting for my old FSX stuff to be updated to P3D, though an AT-6 or Connie may just slip in past the credit card unnoticed! I am very happy with the Cherokee and Commanche but the two Cessnas have never been on my target list. Perhaps it is Carenado fatigue, a widespread but under-reported medical ailment, but mainly it is due to both the 172 and 182 being out-of-the-box vanilla. Yes, you may have guessed where I am headed - there is no floats option. I think that most aircraft can be improved with a pair of canoes strapped to their legs, would floats be considered for the 172/182?

If they're going to do that they should instead make a Super Cub :D

I actually had a very similar feeling when I purchased the C182.

"Oh just another bland Cessna panel"

But I encourage you to do this. Go up on a night flight. Get all the gague lights just where you like it, same for the glare-sheild and pedestal lights. Really get them perfect....Get to know the autopilot, and VOR's the ADI if you are using it. Get the Radio lights just perfect...

For me, it really helped me see that "oh this isn't a bland Cessna....It's MY Cessna" and I have been thoroughly enjoying it since. It is all about the way you approach it.

Me three. I didn't fly the 182 that much in FSX, compared to the three Pipers. I've found myself flying it a lot in V4. My first flight in V4 was at dusk around Orbx LA - the lights (inside and out), the ability to carry out without OOMs. The 172 hasn't made it across, but I still fly it in FSX. If there was to be a 'proper' all singing, all dancing Cessna single, I'd prefer an old 185 (or maybe 206). I did rather like the other guys C-172 on floats with Accu-feel.
