FSX Video

Post by SpitfireMelodeon »

Hello Folks

Win 8.1
intel i5
64 bit Operating System, x64-based processor

I have rarely used the video option but I did on my last foray into FSX.
This was not with an A2A aircraft.

On my next start up FSX came up with the 'encountered a problem' box and will not start.
I can only assume that it is the video.
After I had done the video I found some old ones in there from five or six years ago and deleted them.
As far as I am aware FSX closed down without any problem.

I have tried various remedies.

One at a time and methodically with a computer shut down and restart of FSX, I did the following.

I found some 'Autosave' files I'd not seen before in the FSX Folder in 'Documents' and deleted them.
I deleted all flights on that day with 'Log Book Edit'.
I uninstalled the aircraft concerned.

No luck.

Any assistance gratefully received.

Cheers and Beers
Bill

I have not messed with the video option but you mention the logbook. I have had my game not launch when my logbook gets dorked up. I used to mess with it and delete logs that have no hours on them, this is a bad thing to do. Try moving your logbook.bin out of the < ~~:\Users\%username%\Documents\Flight Simulator X Files > folder and start FSX. It will build a new logbook. If it wasn't the logbook then put your old one back in. I have backed up all my corrupt logbooks in hopes that someday I can merge them all together and get all my hours back. Also, I quit mess'n with my logbook

Good luck
Roger

Thanks Roger

I also use FSXLog which clears any problems with the logbook.
I just tried that as an option.
