Re: Engine Problems in The A2A Cherokee 180
Hi.
Did you have any carb heat on , if not in the rainy conditions ice would build in the carb , and starve the engine of fuel / air , once ice built up , you would need a lot of luck to clear it , once you put the carb heat on .
In rainy conditions even in high temps , carb heat should be turned on to some degree , to prevent ice forming .
regards alan,

Looks like carb ice but without looking at the maintenance hanger can't be sure.

He did show the maintenance hangar in the video. I suspect carb ice. I noticed the carb heat was never turned on despite the loss in RPM.

It was...
Carb ice
I didn't even have the carb heat on. I will turn it in next time.

Re: Engine Problems in The A2A Cherokee 180
Well made video Caleb along with the emergency landing spot, I figured it was icing early on by the way it slowly lost power but there were other things I probably would have done at the time after checking all the gauges like checking the mixture is on full (like you had done), switching over to another tank and adding the fuel pump into the mix (to off before possible crash).
Reminds me to again double check emergency procedures for proper procedures.

Re: Engine Problems in The A2A Cherokee 180
Changing the fuel tank/turning on the fuel pump is probably the first thing to do when you notice you're having engine problems. I'm not too sure if that would have fixed this problem, but t is defiantly a good thing to do.
