I'm guessing that A2A needs to pay the bills and the upgrades to the P3D platform require time and effort (money) on their part.

The greatest news about these P3D releases is that it has no affect whatsoever on my FSX installation! I can still use all my FSX products without a hitch no matter what happens in the P3D world.

I suspect you're going to get deluged with replies to that, LOL!

Count yourself lucky that most of your add-on aircraft got free upgrades. Most of mine didn't - and that includes PMDG, Captain Sim, Majestic and (I think) Quality Wings and iFly.

You may notice that all the above have one thing in common: they're *study* aircraft - that use all sorts of additional features/kludges/workarounds to add functionality. Quite often, the FSX and P3D versions of the same aircraft are almost entirely different. I've beta tested a few times for various people over the years and I know just how much work goes into these addons: it's *huge* - so I'm not surprised that people like A2A, PMDG etc. are forced to generate more income for all the additional work.

May I be so bold as to ask the status of the Connie?

They sell separate licences for FSX and P3D. Why would they suddenly offer free upgrades to FSX users just because a new P3D version was released?

Pat
For those Customers who have already paid for FSX licenses when they were first released that are looking to upgrade to the bundled license and hoping not to pay $80+ per add-on again.

I think the issue is the language with "upgrade".

P3D is not an upgrade.
For starters, the licensing model is restrictive in that it can only be used for STEM programs and flight training purposes.
It is now a very different product that has branched off of the Microsoft ESP code. Each version takes it progressively further away from its origins.

The FSX engine is still supported by Dovetail and is licensed for personal use and limited to entertainment.

Going from FSX to P3D is not an upgrade.

I do not work for A2A or intend to represent them in any way. I'm just throwing in my $.02.

Connie P3Dv4. Serious problem: AutoStart keeps looping.

Post by smoothflight »

Just installed the latest P3Dv4 Compatible Connie from the A2A site.

I cannot start the aircraft because the Autostart keeps looping.

It doesn't do it in P3Dv3 on the same system. A2A c182 works fine with P3Dv4 on the same system.

Adding throttle makes no difference (as shown about half way through the video clip)

I am not touching any controls as this happens.

Same stop/start sissues occur when I start the engines manually.

Any suggestions?

A reinstall?

I just tried it (though I usually do a full cold start) and I had no looping.

Wierd. Tried reinstall (of the Connie). Also uninstalled the P3Dv3 version and reinstalled both. No good. Something is triggering the engines to restart.

I removed every addon, with no success.

Same thing happens if i do a manual start.

P3Dv3 version works fine on the same PC.

c182 works fine on the same P3Dv4 setup.

Another video.... (I am not touching any controls as I watch the engines doing strange things)

Enable Live Engineer and things get even more bizarre. I am not touching anything as I record these strange actions by the engineer.

Lewis is the pro here, but is automixture set to ON in P3D? If so, it needs to be off. Also you can try removing any Connie DAT files in your Windows / Programs / A2A folder.

Yes that sounds like classic auto mixture being set incorrectly. The manual for your software is under your windows start button > A2A Simulations. Remember guys when posting tech issues please post in the relevant tech support forum with a new topic so I'll see it. The tech support forums get priority over all others.

thanks,
