Passing of Ian Warren

I know that quite a few of the folks here have had interactions with Ian over the years. Apparently he was one of the first to get the 377 Stratocruiser when it came out and he was quite chuffed to get a phone call from Scott asking what he thought of it so it's with a sad heart that I find myself giving notice of his passing early today.

Below is a section of the notice I posted in the local FlightSim forums (NZFF) forums this afternoon:

I’m saddened to report that our friend, Ian Warren, died this afternoon only a few weeks after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.

He is now making his first solo flight, having just taken off from planet earth on his trip into the cosmos.

I’m saddened by his departure, but also heartened that he doesn’t have to experience any more of the pain that he had to endure over the last few weeks. He recently purchased his dream machine, a new super games computer, and am pleased that he was at least able to enjoy it for a few super smooth flights before his passing.

Oh - crikey, I didn't even know Ian was unwell. He wasn't so old was he? Very sad news indeed and I hope the last couple of weeks weren't too unbearable for him.

It was obvious from his posts that he was a proper gent and his talent was very evident from this thread. I'd urge anyone who hasn't already done so to take a look at his website too: http://www.aviation-art-in-action.com/.

Farewell Ian - you will be missed.

Nick

I didn't know Ian, beside few thread interactions here, I think the group has lost a talented member and artist.
My condolences to his family and friends!
