I'm looking forward to it too but first I am looking forward to knowing the grid which still even at this late date is still not finalized for more than one team from front to back :shock:

cheers,

I'm just thrilled that I can read the F1 thread (for now) because I'm finally caught up on last season. It's tough staying away from the discussion when I'm usually three to four races behind in the season and don't want any spoilers.

So has Mercedes filled Nico's seat yet?

I'm also excited for the year, and I'll be attending my first F1 race this year as well. Hopefully these changes mix the grid up a bit. I know, probably wishful thinking. I hopeful that McLaren can at least get back into the mix.

Hey chunk, I don't know where you are visiting but I'd advise getting track side. F1 is a very physical experience and you need to be as close as possible. I've watched it from many stands and I've watched it from many corners trackside. Watching from the stands is pretty much like watching it on TV, you can generally see a big screen and you get an overview of things but you feel slightly disconnected.
When you are trackside it becomes an experience though. The noise, smells and visuals are so much more extreme. It's not just about volume, it is about the subtleties and mechanical noises these things make that TV doesn't transmit. The smell too and the visual aspect and cornering speed close down and also the physical punch as they pass if you are close at the right corners.
I much prefer trackside to grandstands. Plus there are so many big screens these days you can see one from anywhere.

The ideal situation is watch Fri and Sat trackside and the race from a grandstand. Best of both worlds. Fri and Sat are usually roaming grandstands anyway.

Will Buxton reporting on Twitter that the maneuver is for the parent company to "divorce" itself from the racing operation so it can be sold. Reportedly there are several buyers for the team out there, but there are legal and operational issues that have to be cleared up first.

LOL, great video.

In the meantime I take it we have all by now heard of Paddy Lowe leaving Merc, meaning they have another quiet high profile position in the team now missing. I hear Paddy being linked back to Williams again.

cheers,

And the latest news;

Frederic Vasseur leaves Renault, which is interesting as I'm really excited to see what that now factory team is going to do for 2017.

Manor administrators are keeping staff on until end of Jan. Its getting pretty damn tight now for any buyer to pop up to really hope they do. Haas entry into grid has been amazing but I think the likes of the old new three show more and put off more interest in F1 entries. Be good to see Manor survive!

thanks,
