Thank you Andrew and Joe, ... It is a choice subject and especially the Japanese cruiser , they were so unique in their design making the research even more course the main subject is the Dauntless, simply something about the Pacific naval air war that really intrigues me.

Love the style, I often prefer sketches to a "finished" look. Well done!

Thanks Alan :) , this is a work in progress and will get that finished look or at least following the same example as my 'Battle of Midway' piece, this is just the outline and idea.

Sounds good, looking forward to it. But save the sketches, they have a life of their own.

Nice work Ian. :) Having had a look at your site, I particularly like the Short Solent and those No.74 Sqn Lightnings. Your Connies also look very graceful, so perhaps I should take back the beaked whale remark I made about the things elsewhere... (Not yours specifically I mean! )

Cheers,

The drawing is the start , the same , its has just been edited and redrawn as I get the perspective and details more correct , so the finished will still stay a sketch.

Be very interesting to see other people posting their aircraft drawings sketches and any artwork one has done, its surprising the many styles out there.

:) Thanks Lewis, I'll get to those four Merlin's just for you ... tho really have to approach and think about the composition , everyone has done a Lanc painting ... I'll need to really cook up an amazing idea and make it very dramatic.

Hey Ian, why don't you post a few of those finished works I've seen? I like the development of the art work idea but it's also good to see the sort of end product that you're capable of. They are truly great so please share :D
