Re: AVIATION ART IN ACTION
Truthfully I only approached colour more a sideline but now taken to it , oils would really be a whole different approach , that is one area I have never practiced , even back in school was never taught , always put it in as the messy category, It would be interesting to see what maybe later I will come up with.

Yes its messy but in a sort of 'i don't know what i'm doing oh I've created an amazing sea scape'
imo its one of the most creative mediums as its art simply using it

Messy .. sorta like the Swedish cook plucking a chicken in the Muppet show, I'll stick with what I currently know, the oils would be an extra expense, here I have a life time off colour pemcil and acrylic paint.

Re: AVIATION ART IN ACTION
BLACK CATS , This all started because one morning mowing the lawn, neighbour's Helen and Bruce stopped for a chat, they mentioned their son Jason had just open a small 'cafe' in Dunedin called the 'Black Cat Cafe' ... I start waffling away about a group in WWII, Catalina's in the Pacific you know me, anyway Helen told Jason about this, one thing lead to another ... so it has been full speed ahead.
This is in the late hours of the night, but it dose show this detail like is if the light is directly on - as the light in the room changes so dose the painting.
A made up history here, I could not find any detail off the cargo ship but reading about the exploits and tricks these guys did in 1943 , I decided - Target - one ammunition cargo ship old 1920 design and simply blow it up moored in shallow water somewhere in the Pacific. the ship hit by four 500lb bombs 'Direct Hit' first the initial explosion and next thing 'WHOOLIP' - a second massive explosion - ammunition ship alright , simply broke its back snapped in two and disintegrated , gone in 30 seconds !

Cheers Lewis, Thanks Crazac , I got more and more pleased with it nearing the end, its one of those paintings that really come together in the final stages, after doing the research and the reading I was thinking be ideal movie material about these crews in WWII.

Indeed ! The Japanese navy is a bit of a hobby of mine, so that's a very interesting picture, Ian - and very well executed too. Well done !Lewis - A2A wrote:Damn that's nice, I bet Paul K a member here would love one too!

Hi Paul, Thank you , Like you I have this fascination with the Japanese Navy, thinking about it, any warship off the period, of course this time I had to put in an old tramp steamer type just to blow it up .... I seem to have this love having aircraft attacking ships and making a mess of things

Re: AVIATION ART IN ACTION
Already have that covered , ole black and white pencil drawing I did a few years back .. currently working on a 'STAR WARS' piece .. then back into BEAUFORT Flying Officer K.Cambell VC , its the Battle Cruiser Gneisenhau holding up the traffic just to make sure it looks the part ... the Stirling is still grounded till that one is finished ...Lewis - A2A wrote:What about a ship being strafed by coastal command Beaufighters on a sweep?

Stirlings flying low attacking factories?
Or how about Wimpy's low flying smashing the invasion barges in the forgotten bomber command campaign of 1940

Well! I had a couple ask me, Could I do a STAR WARS painting after checking out my art portfolio ... been done to Death ... how the hell do I approach this, I had already started a background Oct/Nov 2014 , still requires a little/lotta work .. how many 'Millennium Falcons' and 'Xwings' can you, one not have
