A2A Twin Engine Trainer

Post by caribpilot »

So we have a Piper Cherokee and a Cessna 172. Now all that's left for the training aircraft category is a twin engine aircraft such as the Piper Seneca or Seminole. I have to say that based on the C172 and P180 a Twin Engine will drive the FSX community to be full blown GA fanatics....

I'd like to see a Beechcraft Baron myself, not the ideal for training, but for GA flying it is fast and performs very well all-around.

A lot of airline training academies use either Baron 58 and Senecas for multi training. Considering the high cost of MEL training, a B58 or Seneca would be an excellent selling training product. Since B58 and Senecas are also good pax or cargo haulers, either would also be a welcome accusim quality transport category GA for FSpax/cargo type programs...etc

Lewis, if its to be the Queenair, you simply must add the Excalibur version which had the big IO-720's.
The sweetest sounding aircraft to hear flying overhead. There used to be a night freight run out of Perth, West Oz until they scrapped the airframe, and the only aircraft I would stop what I was doing to listen to. :)

As far as a multi trainer platform I vote for a Seminole. Mostly because that's what I trained in!

I would like, more than any other aircraft in the simulated world, would be a Beech 18/C-45! And that is because I simply love that aircraft! And I probably have more time in that type than any other aircraft. And it is just a beautiful twin! And the sound!

We all know that you need to follow up with a DC3 after the trainer though. :)

Oh yes, if the P3D training market wasn't being considered, a Beech 18 is at the top of my pecking order for sure, along with a Gooney Bird. An accusimmed Howard 500 would make me go bonkers too. Any early 50s straight tailed twin such as an Aero Commander 520, Twin Bonanza, Queen Air..especially an Excalibur edition would be awesome. The beauty of these old planes is that they look good in shiny 50s paint schemes, or also look great as beat up old clunkers.

I mean is this a beautiful plane or what? :) How about it Scott, you would get to accusim the Lyc. GO-435 geared engine :D

I vote they do the DC3 first

It's an epic plane. they have the engines mechanics already in accusim..!

2nd choice.. cant agree more with TJ. = An Aero commander.!

Not even going to be picky cause I don't know anything about GA planes to be begin with. A twin would be awesome though. Said they have the next 24+ months mapped out already though, so I am sure if there is any twins on the map it is well underway. Miss the old upcoming products previews but at least we don't have people everyday asking are we there yet. :lol: So guess will just wait to see what the next surprise is.

I think Seneca, probably a later one, from 80'ies or later, would be the most sensible twin trainer. Why - well, it is:
  • - a common twin trainer in real life too;
    - equipped with turbochargers (and, obviously, constant speeds) etc. for some complexity and management;
    - a six seater, at least in theory;
    - of highish performance compared to most classic singles.
That doesn't mean that I were much of a fan of the model, as it is still quite much of single's performance and features combined with twin's costs and halved reliability. But that doesn't prohibit it from being a very nice Accusim airplane.

I think that a piper Seminole would be a great twin trainer. :mrgreen:
