Re: G3D.dll error on FSX Startup
Check your drivers (Update if needed), looks like somethings gone AWOL and your PC is running in standard VGA mode.

Re: G3D.dll error on FSX Startup
Graphics drivers are up to date, they updated Friday night which is about when this all started.I've scoured the internet looking for fixes and every thing I read has to do with it in the sim with bad scenery. Where can I go to double check how it sees what mode to run in?

Re: G3D.dll error on FSX Startup
In that case it sounds like a bad driver update. Try reverting back to the previous ones?

Re: G3D.dll error on FSX Startup
To eliminate scenery as the possible cause you might rename your scenery.cfg file so you can restore it
later and see if FSX will build a new one, assuming you can boot FSX.
If it appears to be scenery, use the 'power of 2' approach and disable half of your
scenery entries. You can edit the scenery.cfg in Notepad , changing the "Active = True" to
"Active = False". This is the equivalent of 'un-checking' the entry in the scenery menu.
NOTE: Area 0005, I believe it is, is the only absolutely required area
If, after the first 'half disable' the problem persists, disable half of what is left, etc.
If you find at some point the problem goes away, re-enable half of the last group of entires
you disabled and continue that approach until you isolate the culprit.
The 'power of 2' is a powerful tool!

I'd also try deleting your FSX.cfg and letting a new one be generated. You will loose all of your settings but it might just be what is needed.

Re: G3D.dll error on FSX Startup
Im at a loss short of reinstalling or repairing FSX. I have been to that site as its the first one i came to when searching for this error. I also updated My FSUIPC as it had said in the thread just to be sure i had the latest version. i just tried removing all of the scenery files from my addons folder and sticking them in another folder for save keeping and it still does it.

Re: G3D.dll error on FSX Startup
Ok, udate. recieved my fresh sealed copy of FSX from ebay yesterday, i stuck the disk in and repaired the installation and reactivated with the new code and then installed acceleration, and restarted the computer, started the sim and boom same error so in frustration i uninstalled again and restarted the computer and the icon was still there. so i clicked on it and fsx started up normally, so i thought hey by some miracle its works and i can make sure all my aircraft are good by gong through and repairing installing any aircraft id fly right off the bat, 17 47 51 etc in order with the core update last. got that all done and started it up, made it the the free flight screen every thing good so far! selected felts field and then the 51, but wait all i have is the pilot the glass and some light polys? hmmm, well it seems it uninstalled acceleration and not the base game, remembering they need sp2 or acc, i reinstalled acc and restarted the sim, no go same g3d error, so long story short i did this about 6 times throughout the nite pinpointing the problem to acceleration/SP2 whatever it is my computer doesnt like it and faults the g3d module of FSX. deleting the .dll and letting fsx build a new one, repairing and doing all the normal stuff doesnt work.
Any Suggestions?

Re: G3D.dll error on FSX Startup
I am afraid it won't help you much, but I had exactly this error you described today, and fixed it with a simple update of my nVidia drivers. I did not take the newest from nVidia HP, because I had several times trouble with it, needed to roll back to the older one. Also, because of this, rolling back was no option I could perform in my system options. Now with the new "default" drivers Windows found for me, it works again.
But, I could only do ~ one hour test flight so far, so time will tell.

E.

Re: [FIXED] G3D.dll error on FSX Startup
got her working with a major rollback of the drivers, but i missed a crutial step. i didnt DELETE the old drivers from the Device manager menu, after that i restarted in safe mode and installed the new drivers, and restarted again. After that i started fs and everything is a go. so if anyone has this error with the new nvidia drivers, when you rollback go to Device manager and Uninstall your old drivers first.
Re: [FIXED] G3D.dll error on FSX Startup
Glad you solved it for you, too. But sill, it makes me wonder what the future will be for FSX if these NVidia drivers will keep on making trouble
