I was taking the 757 for a flight and just when i approached the California coast I decided to take a look at the air traffic. I looked at a couple planes then I came across this.

These 737 were going the exact same speed. It was like they were in formation! It just goes to show how well FSX AI traffic is thought out.

They eventually did separate by about 2000 feet vertically.

(this is not an april fools joke - seriously)

The first thing I would point the finger at is one of the available FSX programs that automatically keeps the time adjusted to real time.

What I found is that, in particular one of them that I have tried, kept duplicating enroute AI flights each time it updated the time. I figured this out when FSX first came out and I kept running into squadrons of identical AI aircraft all flying the same route.

As soon as I stopped using the time keeper/updater, I never saw another set of duplicate AI again.
