I don't know, eh. Its not hideous or anything, but its definitely no beauty queen. The technology behind it is very interesting, its the only supersonic seaplane ever built.

Actually, its a Tupolev Tu-28 (or Tu-128) 'Fiddler', the largest and heaviest purpose-fighter to be used in service, and the USSR's interceptor competition to the F-101 Voodoo.

And that plane is a Lockheed L-2000, SST prototype that was defeated by the Boeing 2707, and the enitre project later cancelled. And no, its not hypersonic.

Blackhawk? Don't have a clue about the designation, XF-something (and I'm not going to google it :P)?

What about this one?

Close you are getting there, :-). I'll give you a hint, it's a relative of the Citabria.

Great find if you found the answer just by searching the engine type! But what really impresses me, is how on earth you could reason out that XF8(B) was really powered by R4360? Ok, engine cowling is similar with for example Stratocruiser, but for me this kind of detail is not clear at all. Even XF-8's double blade configuration is confusing compared to, for example 377, so nice job from you!

Fact that I could recognise Blackhawk was also pure coincidence :D Couple of weeks ago I was reading stuff about P-61 Black Widow from internet, and in some article (probably Wikipedia) Blackhawk was named as a planned successor of P-61. Thus, I could shine on this quiz, at least once

By the way, XF8 would have probably been one terrific multirole aircraft, if it would have been mass produced for operational use. Perhaps more versatile than Skyrider? Who knows, but great piston engined prototype nonethless...

Nice one! I Started immediately looking older Russian Ilyushin Bombers, although very much similar looking, none was exactly like the one in picture. But I believe I found the correct one:

This is OKB-1 150.

What about this one:
