Has anyone used this program and if so, What do you think about it? I looked at the slides and they look great but does it really improve FSX that much?

I dont have UT USA but I do have UT Canada. Big improvement if flying VFR. A lot of small roads/lakes are added as well as better coastlines and small towns. Impact of FPS is med-low depending on your settings.

I have all the UT addons for FS9 and they're excellent. Makes VFR flying (and flying published visual procedures) a lot easier. I've heard FSX is as good. Hopefully Flight puts that data in already and we can have developers spend their time on better terrain meshes. :)

Generally speaking, UT will not change your ground textures. However, it does make all the roads, railroads, rivers, waterbodies and coastlines more accurate than what comes with the default Flight Simulator.

Out of the box, FSX was a huge improvement over FS9, but FSX still benefits from the improvements offered by Ultimate Terrain X. I recommend it as a 'global' improvement to your setup, especially if you fly VFR.

My advice, however, is to turn off the suburban and minor roads, as streets are drawn over top of ground textures including rooftops and football fields.

I've been doing a bit of research before purchasing any scenery add-ons and this line of products seems to be the best bang-for-the-buck. ORBIX looks like a higher quality add-on but the price for the coverage just doesn't work for me and the type of flying I do since I cover lots of terrain.
I like the fact that UTX and GEX cover large areas all at once and each software package compliments the other as an upgrade, where as ORBIX only covers small areas with each purchase and any upgrade would be much more money spent for each area.

Well I have all the FSX UT products and very happy with them all, but you might want to think about getting Gex with them also, the 2 of them play very well with each other and your FPS will go Back up with that combo. The landclass with UT really makes things look nice, also bought all the Scenery Tech products to go with them, you simply layer them in the scenery library and there you can chose to trun ST on or off if you like or don't like how it makes the the sim look while your flying.

I agree with mountainhighair more bang for the buck, and you could also have ORBIX products they can be made to work with each other from what I understand.
Made with FEX,REX, UT,ST, GEX, FSWC, Shade, A2A P47 Accusim, ASE and one of Nath's great repaints, Lotus L39 just for the shot in the mountains,Carenado a little closer to the ground for you.

I don't use replacement texture sets, but the Ultimate Terrain series are excellent add-ons. Like Lewis, I tend to keep a stock terrain set installed at the moment, but the difference UTX Canada and UTX Europe made to the default was phenomenal.

Thoroughly recommended by me, even if it does mean I have to keep putting road excludes in to counteract all the roads that people built through airfields since 1945.

Amazing pics Bopper. And I like the way you think Ian in regard to the airfields. I have spent lots of time looking at Flight1's website and all the goodies I'd like to have. Amazing stuff there. Wish I had more play money.
