If it goes the way it did with the P-47 (which was an all new aircraft) they gave owners of the original P-47 packages a slight discount on purchasing the package. They usually also do a small (usually $5) discount on purchasing the Accu-sim with the aircraft itself for first time buyers (which I would be for the Spit). I think it is revolutionizing Accu-sim enough though to justify not doing discounts at all, but Scott is an excellent businessman so can't wait till the veil is fully taken back on this. Certaintly looks like they are massively upping the bar on this, and I would be willing to be once the P-51 comes out we may even be able to interchange engines/propellers with that aircraft as well. Certaintly will make some interesting combos if it does happen. This happens everytime though. I saw I am not going to buy a bird, but then I wind up getting sucked in just to see what all is new with Accu-sim. I certaintly like the little external APU, that is a nice feature.

Haha,RoadBurner I know exactly how you feel,My first love is Naval Aviation,I really had very little interest in The Spit. But then I began flying The P-47,Now everything else is secondary as I'm almost flying it exclusively. The realism and immersion of Accusim can't be beat! :D

Yeah. I have an equal number of Accu-sim birds in my hangar that I initially didn't want (377, Cub) compared to the number I really really wanted (B-17, P-47). They always wound up proving themselves to me in the end. I don't think the Spit will be an different... I REALLY want the P-51, and Phantom. Doesn't look like I will be able to turn down the Spit or the 104 though. I just have to much fun with these birds to pass them up. Glad to hear I am not the only one with this problem though.

Well i think that early SPitfires which used 2 blade pitch had Merlin II engines. Spits with Merlin III engines used 2 stage prop pitch De Haviland or new constant speed propelers.

But im not expert here :P

Not quite sure if they have a release date at this point. Is odd seeing Lewis do an update. Normally when release is imminent Scott starts doing his famous walkthrough/tutorial videos showing off all the latest and greatest Accu-sim features. Either they are going to change that for this one, or it isn't quite ready for prime time yet. Hopefully they have all just been very busy with the holidays, and the new year that there won't be enough time to do such videos while wrapping everything up for the release.

I'm not going anywhere! :D

I have to say that since I bought the AccuSim P-47, I haven't bothered looking at the offerings of any other MSFS developer as no-one is getting close to what you guys produce in terms of REALISM and a feeling of BEING THERE.

I bought the B377 some time ago, but because at that time I had not bought AccuSim for it, I quickly lost interest in the aircraft (having flown a particular jet before then, I just couldn't get into it as I was missing all the fun!). After the P-47 with AccuSim however, I realized I was missing out. I purchased AccuSim for the B377 and got stuck into dead reckoning/pilotage nav techniques (I was determined to cross the Atlantic!), and I haven't looked back since.

You guys appreciate what it is to fly, and your aircraft have soul - something I just can't say for any other add-on.

Let me know where I can ship the crate of beer - you guys deserve it!!!! As a grounded pilot IRL (medical), I can't say thank you enough for your efforts in bringing the most realistic and immersive aircraft to MSFS.

Best regards,
Robin.

Thanks for the update and the beautiful images Lewis. I understand we will be able to fly it with a fixed pitch two blade propeller and with a constant speed 3 blade propeller. From a previous announcement I understand there will be a Mk.I with inertia starter and a Mk.II with Coffman starter. However so far I have only seen images with the bubble shaped malcolm hood canopy. So I wondered whether there will be a model with the 'flat' early canopy and fixed gun sight as well?

And Kwiatat you are right. The main difference between the Merlin II and Merlin III was the fact the later one was fitted with an universal shaft which could be fitted with all type of DH and Rotol propellers. The Spitfire Mk.II was fitted with the Merlin XII which had a more advanced cooling system and the Coffman cartridge starter system.

Cheers,
Huub

Honestly, although I love the Spitfire, because I have all the other Accusims, I thought I'd wait it out for the Mustang and the Phantom.
But after reading "also will have the chance to truly 'own' the aircraft, but more on that later..." and seeing the cockpit, plus the two guys holding the tail down, oh me oh my!

And a trip around the world would be a great way to get to know it (with lots of fuel stops of course, and possibly a container ship or two for the Oceans).

Lewis you tease!

Hi Lewis,

Will old repaints work on the new Spitfire? My favorite repaint is Sailor Malan's ZP-A, and I don't fly with any other Spitfire repaint.

Cheers,
Craig Tatley
