The only privately owned F-4 in the US I know of belongs to the Collings Foundation, and is based in Huston, TX.

Just some quick questions.

1. Will it have accusim?
2. Will it support navy versions
3. If so will it support british Phantom FG.1s ?

Lewis,

Any chance of a joining of efforts with the VRS team, so as to have working weaponry and sensors? VRS is working on making more destructive ordinance within FSX, such as smoking, burning planes and destructible ground targets. I know you helped them with their sound files and loved the work. I am hoping that more manufacturers may try to expand the limititations of FSX, turning it more into a limited combat simulation.

Matt

I can't imagine what the operating costs must be like on that thing, let alone insurance (if that's even possible), and the financial impact that has on a civilian operator.

You can insure anything for a price. For me to insure a Bugatti Veyron is a cool $13,000 a month for liability. So I am sure the costs for that F-4 are astronomical. Not to mention the maitenance, and fuel. They must burn through tons of fuel in that aircraft just flying it from show to show. So they must have some pretty big backers. Look at the Vulcan group over in Britain too tho. They have nearly gone bust multiple times now but they keep pulling through..Cannot wait for this aircraft to hit my desktop tho! Eagerly awaiting new screens.

Indeed, the Vulcan is based not too far from my home in Leicestershire. I often see people raising money for the project at local events. I'm told that the only reason that they managed to get back into the air this year was because they received an anonymous £400,000 donation! As far as I know they have no large commercial backers, however have had funds given to them from the national lottery to keep the work going.

Don't get me started on the way that has been run. :x

They have been accused of fraud on more than a few occassions. It makes one raise an eyebrow as to what is really going on over there.

Best regards,
Robin.

You guy have to remember that if it gets Accu-Simed and if there is only 1 left flying in the world then I would think that will be the model

There are currently 631 F-4s in active military service.
