I installed CFS3 and FirePower again tonight. The bonus P-51D is beautiful and great fun to fly! It's the best fighter in the game now. ;)

I love doing strafing runs in the new Mustang.

Awesome. It's Wings of POWER locked and loaded.

I took a shot at fixing the propellor cone's colors myself ... I'm getting some clipping of textures all over the plane in the hangar view and the cockpit panel sometimes ghosts in the external flying views, but overall I'm impressed that I made it this far!

If you notice, we dirtied up and put a lot of wear on the plane for CFS3.

I noticed the 'operational wear.'

I wasn't clear when I mentioned the clipping and ghosting ... this occurs only after my attempt to save my revised propellor texture. I got the the texture from the FS9 P-51D/H pack; I saw that the layout of the textures for the overall skin and for the propellor nose are the same between the FS9 version and the CFS3 version. (I'm assuming that the WOP paint kit would work with the CFS3 'FirePower' model also.) I tried various approaches to moving the FS9 'Big Beautiful Doll' nose texture to FirePower, including cutting-and-pasting only the propellor area from FS9 onto the relevant FirePower textur in PhotoShop, but I seem to be resaving the texture in the wrong format.

I'm pretty sure I'm losing the alpha channel or the MipMap or something. Certainly my resaved texture ends up being about half the number of kilobytes as the original FirePower Mustang's example. And, like I said, there are minor glitches appearing in-game ... but only for the external model views so it really doesn't affect me much. Black areas like the tires and cockpit parts sometimes appear transparent. These glitches don't occur in the VC mode however.

Anyhow, thanks for including this excellent fighter! It's fast (maybe too fast?) but it turns smooth and is great fun all around.

Is there any way of getting the P-51 for CFS3 on its own? I have Firepower, but I didn't get the aircraft powerpack as I already have the WWII bombers and jets too. I REALLY like the idea of flying the WOP P-51 in CFS3!

Many thanks, burncpt
