I was wondering if Firepower has any edits in it to improve contrails. There is a thread at sim-outhouse http://www.cfcforums.com/showthread.php?t=3553 that describes some edits. I dont want to overwrite anything Firepower may have already done. Those contrails sure look sweet though ya gotta admit!

You can add contrail effects provided you don't overwrite any existing effects code.

Be careful when adding contrails though. We didn't add contrails to FirePower is because CFS3 doesn't support triggering these at altitude. Presently the only way to trigger them is by airspeed or engineRPM, so you get contrails at all altitudes including at sea level. Also, be aware that contrails take up a lot of particles, and if you are making huge bombing runs, you will likely see the limit of CFS3 hit, and some bombs won't make any explosions (or just partial). It won't effect the damage system, but just be aware of it.
