Wings of Power Republic P-47D-30-RA "Duck-Butt",#44-20372, flown by Lt. Arthur G. Witters of 392nd FS, 367th FG,spring 1945,France.Lieutenant Arthur G. Witters is awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for extraordinary achievement in aerial flight against the enemy. On 28 March 1945, while leading his squadron on an armed reconnaissance, Lieutenant Witters distinguished himself by outstanding airmanship and leadership. Coordinating and directing his attacks in a superior manner, Lieutenant Witters was responsible for the remarkable toll of destruction wrought by his squadron against enemy transports and installations. He personally destroyed fourteen motor transports and one tank.
