Ie as in the B29? Or is per cent when using the mouse the only way to get a reading on the actual position of the flaps?
Also, what per centage rudder trim are U fellas cranking in for climb, takeoff?Etc.
Cheers
Is there a "guage" of sorts for flap position?

Zero all trimtabs for take-off with the P47. Or crank in up elevator by feel as you break ground (So you don't relax backpressure unwittingly as you pull up ypur gear or flaps.)Aldeere wrote:Ie as in the B29? Set your climb power after you clean up the plane and trim up-blevator for Best climb speed... that will probably give you close to the initial rate of climb as shown in the charts.
Rudder and aileron atre trimmed to climb straight ahead without crabbing or dropping a wing.
Except for take off, once in the air you should should trim by feel to make the plane do what you want it to do.
Don't fly mechanically, you adjust trim when in flight to relieve control pressures.
How much? How long is a piece of string??? Wlatever is needed, just as how much you you turn the steering wheel of your car to go around a corner.
When trimmed correctly the plane should fly hands off , or maintain course and pitch angle with only slight movements of the stick in calm air.
If there are no guages or no detent stops for the flaps, sit in the cockpit on the ground and count the seconds it takes to go full down and the seconds it takes to come full up.
Divide the total number of seconds to go full down, by 4. That number of seconds is quarter flaps, twice that is half flaps, 3 times it is 3 quarter flaps and all of it is full flaps.
For normal situations use recommended flap settings , controlling descent by throttle while holding airspeed steady by pitch changes.
DO NOT DROP BELOW RECOMMENDED PATTERN SPEEDS. (A good rule of thumb is do not drop below 15 knots above stall speed for your weight and configuration.)

There is a flap handle on the left side of the VC, just take a look at that.Aldeere wrote:Ie as in the B29? Or is per cent when using the mouse the only way to get a reading on the actual position of the flaps?
