BOB First release..."English Text stopped working" error!

Post by stefos »

Hi everyone,

If I'm not supposed to post here, please remove this!

So, I installed BOB (The first game, not the 2nd release) and updated it with the 0.99 patch..no issues.

Now that I tried to start it up, The "English Text stopped working" error appears!

Any fixes at all?

I have a Win 8.1 pc & Nvidia GTX 750ti w/ the most recent drivers.

I have installed BOB2 and it runs with no issues!

Please go to simhq.com & look under the "Battle of Britain" link and view my DX DIAG post!
Compatibility is set to Win XP SP2

Windows 8 wiill not run BoBII. No one has been able to do it.

For those that have Wundows 7 BoBII seldom crashes.
If you have a CTD, then look in the BoBII root folder and find the crashlog text file.
Copy and paste the the first lines, specifically these:

------------ Begin of section written with bob.exe, Build/Rebuild all date: Oct 30 2014 09:45:37 ---------------------------
bob.exe caused a EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION in module bob.exe at 0023:0058256E, DeadStream::GetWorldDead()+72 byte(s), e:\merlin\bob\src\missman\savegame.cpp, line 1231+8 byte(s)

---------------------------

This will tell us if the CTD came from BoBII or is a system problem (which it usually is now with v2.12).
