Back to Windows XP for BoB2WOV

Post by Deej1965 »

Hey Guys was out of the loop for a while. Just returned as I was having way to many issues with BoB WoV2 on windows vista. Re-installing the game on another PC with Windows XP. Just need assistance with downloading Direct X 9.0c(June Version) to get the game mobile up and running. Getting the message that the a/m hasn't been found and of course the game wont start. Am I downloading this to the BoB main exe file or do I download to my PC where Direct X would be located? Tks Very much. Obtw any updates for BoBWoV 2 for windows 8 yet? Deej1965

Still no go on win8 last I heard, but win7 is good for everybody.

I do not know what an a/m is.

You should have been prompted at some point to update your
Dx9 during the install, but you can find the latest version here
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta ... laylang=en
apparently the most recent version is now 9.29.1974, dated
4/18/2011. This is an installer, you don't drop it in your BoB2 install,
you park it somewhere (I keep all my program things pulled from
the web in a folder, full of subfolders labelled by subject, and keep
it backed up, so if I have to reconstitute my machine I have
all the bits right there; you can plant things like a dx installer
in such a location, and run the install from there; generally you can
run an installer from anywhere, but many people download to their
desktop, and you then get a mass of junk all in one folder, which
occasionally gets thrown out. That does not seem a good strategy
to me) and then run the installer, it will put the bits where they need
to go. When you have the latest dx9.0c installed, you will find a
series of files in your Windows\system32\ folder called d3dx9_nn.dll,
where nn goes from 24 to 43. That indicates you should be up to
date with dx9.

To run patch v2.12 well, you want to have a minimum of 3GB of
RAM installed. If you have XP 32bit, you will need to follow the
steps outlined in this post http://www.a2asimulations.com/forum/vie ... 17&t=33747
particularly step 11, which applies to 32 bit XP as well as w7.
This ensures that you are getting all 3GB utilized, otherwise
32 bit windows cannot see beyond 2GB RAM.

There may be other issues getting BoB2 to run regarding the
vidcard on your pc, but let's see where you get with this first.
If you do have further troubles, information on the vidcard
will be useful.
