Re: Crashlog for CTD when playing

Post by stickman »

Dee,

I will let Buddye (our main man coder and our old time BDG leader) interpret this.

I will also know that he will ask for more details on what you were doing to run into this CTD.

There is an old western USA (Texas to Montana) saying about when something goes wrong, and Why it did, to consider exactly Why it went wrong: "The 4 W's and an H".
Who? What? Where? When? and How?
Once these The 4 W's and an H answers are known, then the ultimate question of Why it happened may be better understood.

I grew up in Montana, and Buddye still lives in Texas.
I think all Homicide Detectives around the world use a variation of this formula, when solving crimes,
but they are usually looking for the Who culprit ultimately, and the Why motive to prove for the prosecutor, and jury's judgement, to convict for criminal activity.

As always... the better eye witness accounts, with detailed information like, Who? What? Where? When? and How?
can better let understand Why things went wrong.

Would you go to your local Police Station, report a crime, and give them absolutely no information about Who? What? Where? When? and How?
and expect them to do anything to solve the crime?

Aloha! & Merry Christmas!

Crash log assist from Stickman

Post by Deej1965 »

Hey Stickman..tks for looking over my crash log and sending it to Buddeye for further analysis. I concur with that old saying u mentioned in your last message to me. I know the 5w's and H quite well as I'm a law enforcement officer here in Canada. The 5w's and H r the basis and foundations to grass level policing and investigation. I will await Buddeye's reply to my crash log.
Here's to u and your family wishing u a safe and Merry Christmas!!
Take care
Deej

Deej,

As a boy growing up in northern Montana, I learned to love Canadians. You can call me Yank! If I can call you Canuck! :)
I grew up 40 miles from the Saskatchewan border. Spent a lot of time in Saskatchewan.
Mom and Dad used to go to Regina just to go shopping in the summer time!
As it was just as close (200 miles) to the next "big" cities in Montana, Billings and Great Falls.
Our usual summer camping place was the Cypress Hills Provincial Park. I always remember watching the beavers there building up their dams, and their nicely built mid-pond lodges.
I would try to keep frozen still.. as I watched them at work. They would freeze... and look right at me too! SPLOOSH! they dive.

When I was a young lad of 12 years old, and playing Little League Baseball, we would go up to a small Saskatchewan town called Val Marie.
Kind of an International Sports thing, and my coach was the only one that needed a Passport back then! :D

Ah! Val Marie. Kind of sounds like a French Catholic's Saint's name. OK. Even though I was raised as a godless Unitarian!
Not much in Val Marie. Not even a Stop Light! Nice place.

I just now had to Google Val Marie to get some prairie memories back.

An old 1930's era small barn or wheat shed, that was not sited good on a slope, but that was well hammered together, and still defies the hard harsh North Winds!

In the lower right corner, pic above, looks like there is an animal, red fur, white legs, with black ear tips. I think this is a Red Fox.
Never in my life did I try to shoot a Red Fox. If I had a chicken coop, maybe I would have.

You know that you are in Canada when the road signs are both in English and French! :D

Dee,
As I know now that you are in law enforcement,
and that my errant youth is over,
I now feel more comfortable around cops
than around the crazies I used to hang with!

In the rattle snake sign above, you may notice a distinct lack of Bullet Holes. :D
Go South of the Border into Montana, USA..
and every damned sign along the road ways are all PEPPERED with bullet holes!
Guys leaning out of the passenger window at 65 miles per hour day or night,
and popping off a .44 Magnum at the nearest sign, like they were Clint Eastwood in the old spaghetti Western movies!

I do recall, one time, one night, about 0300 hours, in Zortman, Montana, when I popped off a few .44 rounds at the cross atop the church steeple there.
I have since reformed my errant behavior.
Plus I sold all of my guns, when I moved to Hawai'i. I am still crazy, but I am clean! :P

One thing that I like about Canadians vs. US Americans,
is that Canadians have a better sense of humor than their southern USA cousins.
Must be the harsher winters needed to survive thru!?

Again, no bullet holes on this Val Marie, Canadian sign. :)

Dee,
As a cop, you probably are for very strict gun control laws, I would think.
Even all USA cops want better gun regulation.
Not all of us USA folks are wacko wanna be mountain man gun nuts!

Aloha!

I love the "nothing happened" sign, and was curious, so I
googled. Apparently, this has been going on for a while:
http://www.google.ca/search?q=%22on+thi ... 22+nothing

I wasn't able to find an origin story.

Hey Stickman...loved your reply and pics!! The fox next to the barn and of course the bullet riddled sign in Montana..crazy!! Yep Western Canada is much the same as your mid west...Saskatchewan is very vast and the whole province has only about a million people total...lots of land...few people. Havent been there or Alberta as of yet but will so in the near future..I grew up in the Province of Ontario...Northern Ontario..City called North Bay..50,000 people...lots of lakes...very pretty in all seasons...left there in 86,the year I joined the Ontario Provincial Police(same as the State Troopers)..we police rural Ontario and all the Highways,& small towns in the Province. The RCMP polices the rest of Canada with the exception of large Metropolitan cities such as Toronto,Vancouver,Calgary,Edmonton,Montreal,Ottawa..etc..Ya our gun laws are quite stringent. I must admit it makes policing here some what less stressful than in the states I'm sure. I can understand why my brothers and sisters in law enforcement in the US probably want tougher gun laws. ( Correct me if I'm wrong but the NRA and your Constitutional Right to 'Bear Arms" have a heavy influence on why US gun laws are so hard to tweak..It appears like political suicide for any Senator or Presidential hopeful to tinker with that and not get crushed by or in voting poles...seems like such a very hot topic)...best thing I could hope to get here was a pellet or BB gun back in the day..lol...U need a criminal background check,a gun course before u even apply for a permit to get a gun here. You can't purchase semi auto pistols,or revolvers or for that matter automatic weapons here. Only police and military have authority to carry and use these weapons...even for us our rifle(C-8..Canadian version of the M-16) is semi-auto for patrol. Our Tactical teams have auto weapons but thats it...only the Canadian military have all auto weapons. No one can carry a firearm on their person in our country at any time...the only time you can is if you are transporting a firearm from one place to another. Lets say from a gun shop to a gun range. Thats called a permit to carry...the firearm has to be locked up and secured during transport(and there's a permit to transport you have to get as well)...and its the same if you have rifles for hunting. Ammo and guns have to be secured and locked up..ammo separate from the guns..its been that way for quite some time. You can call me Canuck anytime...no probs.. My law enforcement career is just about finished 27 yrs in...(30 yrs service and can retire(and will)..with full pension, benefits for life with the Ontario government)..Have some travelling to do after hanging up the gun belt..Europe and the States..then maybe into some sort of security investigation stuff perhaps...I love the US...travelled to Virginia,Carolina's,Washington,Pennsylvania,Florida,NYstate & NY City,Ohio with more to see...people in the US are very nice, the ones I met, I found that they have the same outlook on life and the world as us Canadians, just with a different twist on things..I've also met numerous Americans while vacationing in the Carribean and all were very nice with good senses of humour. They didnt quite know a lot about Canada but I educated them on Canada and Canadians in general from my point of view and how we tick..lol...I live in Ottawa Ont which is our Nations capital..like Washington DC..our "Whitehouse" if you will in Ottawa-parlaiment Hill as we call it...Toronto is the Capital city of the Province of Ontario....no probs with your wilder youth and contact with US law enforcement...we were all young and rebellious in youth..as was I.. only my father was a police officer for the city in which I lived so I had to tow the line abit..lol...I just had to be more creative in getting away with stuff...Anyhow hope you & your family have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year for 2014.
