Keyboard not working at all in game , ver 2.11

Hmmm. Then, it oughtta work...

The only way I can see to defeat the keyboard is
by going into keymapping and clearing everything.
In that case, your keys.txt file will be missing all
the numbers which should be at the ends of the lines
(each number is the designator for a particular keyboard
key); but in that case, hitting the default button
as Buddye instructed, and then saving, should get
you back your default keys settings (you can get the
same effect by brute force by just replacing the keys.txt
file with a copy of the "default.txt" file also in the Keyboard
folder, renamed as keys.txt). ...Are you in fact seeing
numbers at the end of the great majority of lines in the
keys.txt file (there are a few unassigned commands in the
default)? If you are, then I'm pretty stumped at the moment.

yup same here cant figure this out at all.
ive tried everything with the keymapping and nothing seems to work. in keymapping if i clear a key then click it so the polling message appears then when i press a key to use it dont appear and all i get is the stupid ring noise from windows

So you cannot also change any commands either in the settings? Your changes in there are not shown?

I also wonder although am sure you've checked this although when you Control Alt Delete out the game (not closing game but going to desktop) theres no other windows hanging around that have gained focus rather than the game? Or maybe try game in windowed to see what happens outside the game? As that would explain your keyboard not working but joystick working in 3D and would explain why you can still change your name and such (as you click the entry to start editing would give focus back).

silly question but how do i get the game into windowed mode

Within the BDG.txt you should set FORCE_WINDOWED_MODE=ON.

Do you ever get those UAC (User Account Control) messages when running or installing programs?

right i can alt tab out of the game i then get a message tellung me not to alt tab out.
i have installed game on my laptop and it works fine so it must be my keyboard. by the way the ring noise is not the normal game tone when i try to change keys its actually the tone from windows when its telling you u cant do it

It sounds like you have something running in the background and is taking the focus of your keyboard.

You will need to make sure that there is nothing running in the background, such as programs updating, your virus software is set into games mode. If it has that setting. If not turn it off.

Yeh that message is BoB, your not supposed to Alt Tab. Hence either using Control Alt Delete or Windowed mode to see...

well ive done another fresh clean ibstall only this time instead of letting it install as c:/bob2 i have changed the path to c:/programfiles (x86) and it all seems to be working now ????????? i hope

Go to your BOBII folder and open the KetBoard folder.

Compare the default.txt file with the keys.txt file.

I had the same problem recently, I think it may be something to do with Zone Alarm. On the loading screen for BoB a ZA box appeared warning that Bob was a keylogger. When I unticked the Remember this setting box and clicked on Allow the keyboard came back. Might be worth a try...
