A few Questions

Post by Irelephant »

G'day all

A few weeks back i bought the history of aviation disk on ebay and I only just got around to installing it. I have a few questions about the game.

http://p.playserver1.com/ProductImages/ ... x300_1.jpg

1. I have installed 2.11 update and the games graphics have not changed from the original game (If I am missing something please tell me)
2. Would the saitek 52x pro be a reasonable joystick for the game (at the moment I'm only using a mouse and keyboard D:)

Hope somebody out there can help me

Cheers

Irelephant

EDIT:Put a pic in so you know what I'm talking about.

I do not know the disc you are referring to, but I suspect that is not "BATTLE OF BRITAIN II WINGS OF VICTORY".
I do not know the Saitek 52X pro. But from other people's comments. It is quite a good stick. I personally use a Thrustmaster Hotas Cougar, of which the Thrustmaster A10 seems to have taken over from.
Prem.

The disk has 4 games on it and one of them is Battle of Britain II Wings Of Victory. Sorry for the confusion.

That's the one that is modelled on the F-16 stick isn't it?

Interesting. A repackaging of BoB2 with three other sims, and 5 pounds for the lot.
I wonder if it's a boot. I haven't heard anything about this, and it's curious that
I only see it for sale by resellers. It says "G2 games", but I can't find a website for them:
http://www.play.com/Games/PC/4-/3440692 ... oduct.html

(I've pm'ed an enquiry to A2A)

Well, let's see, can you provide an image of the opening menu screen for this
install? And what does it say in the lower right hand corner of that screen?

Well, that all looks more or less correct for BoB2 as I recall it.
But what does the opening menu screen for this program look like
after it's installed? And what does it say in the lower right hand
corner of that screen?

Hi Irelephant,

I have used the X52 pro for a few years now and I'm very happy with it. I used to fly with Logitecs Force 3D Pro, and I could never go back. To me it really is worth it to invest in a high end joystick and TrackIR.

I don't know how good my rudder pedals are, seems like they could be better.

What's TrackIR?

Oh, it tracks your head movement, so you can control the view just by moving your head. You can use it with many games (such as BoBII and every other flight sim I can think of).

Here is a video demonstration of it in another game: http://youtu.be/9wXx3vMy_AQ

When you get used to it, it would be difficult to live without it.

The TrackIR website http://www.naturalpoint.com seems to sell the basic TrackIR 5 for $149.95 and the pro bundle that comes with TrackClip Pro (if you watch the video you can see what it is) for $169.95.

I don't live in US so I got my pro bundle from a local online store. It was a little cheaper than it would have been getting it from naturalpoint.

Well, that's a very old version, as it should have a version number displayed in
the lower right hand corner, and since 2.09 or 2.10 we've had a line in the
menu list for "Multiplayer". But at least it looks like BoB2 alright :).
If you ran the v2.11 patch installer, it should have given you a series of
interaction windows similar to the images you posted in the previous post,
and when it was done you would be seeing a menu screen with "V2.11"
in the lower right hand corner, and as I say, with "Multiplayer" listed
below "Contact Us".
