So, what do you see on the Options>GFX page?

Image

(See p20 in the manual).

In particular, what is the exact wording of the selection on the line "3D Resolution"?

As I said in my last post, your 3D should look like this

This looks like a problem I had a while ago after a new install.
If that is the closest you can zoom in, then here is Buddye's advise to me which worked a treat;

Go to the Bdg.txt (in your BOBII folder), find the following parameter:

External_View_Starting_Distance = 3.100000 #Sets the starting distance from the A/C in external view NOTE: set to 1.3 to get the old distance

Change it to 1.3 and see if that is what you are looking for.

One other thing I just noticed from your 2nd post; "I have a very robust system with a high-end video card. I do not have an issue running the game at full graphics settings."

If you have set all the graphics settings to full, there's one that shouldn't be . I can't remember which one but PV can tell you.

I find the graphics to be a bit "cartoony" compared to some other games which are almost photographic. But for me that's part of its charm and it excels in immersion and gameplay so that what you may have expected from the graphics is more than compensated for in the other aspects.

regards

I was trying to take a photo of my graphics settings but, the Print Screen button would not capture it so, I included this image instead. Is this what I am to expect? I am a graphics hound and the overall visual appearance of a game trumps all else for me personally and what I am viewing in-game is only satisfactory at best. The game continues to crash as well. The game will freeze and then a very audible long buzz sound is heard and everything is frozen which requires a hard reboot of the computer. There must be some other software conflict occurring.

I've spent too much time trying to figure this out and I'm afraid I've lost my patience. I want to thank everyone for their kind words of encouragement and politeness. You guys are wonderful. I may revisit this game in the future and possibly attempt another install. Thank you so very much. :|

So, will we never find out what your GFX 3D Resolution setting was?
And I've posted twice the link to images with the resolution you should see
with your card and monitor, and repeatedly said we have thousands of people
running BoB2 on W7 machines @ 1080x1920.

Your first image was 640x480, which is the typical resolution when something
has gone wrong with the resolution settings, it is the minimum default. Your
second image is 1024x768, so you have managed to make a change in the
resolution, but you are still a long way from a reasonable result. Have you
set "Use Windows Desktop Resolution" to "OFF" as noted in Buddye's instructions?

ktickner6767, these are some of my screen shots and my system isn't half as decent as yours. I have a 512mb graphic card and an old fashion dual core processor +4 gigs of ram, I never tweaked my graphic card to enhance it's performance (I use default settings) and my in game GFX settings; Windows Desktop Resolution = On. Give it try, it works for me, maybe it works for you as well. 8)

Cheers.

To get screen shots of the GFX page (in the options menu) and pre and post flight pages, you can use free version of Fraps http://www.fraps.com/download.php or Screen hunter http://download.cnet.com/ScreenHunter-F ... 63246.html, they're easy to use and you'll find them useful to do other related stuff as well. :D

Cheers.

Any window can be captured with Windows built in Alt-printscreen.

I had to use third party software to get these screen shots... Alt-PrtScn or PrtScn would not work for me.

Well, everything seems to be up full, but the two resolution settings are very low... can you not turn these up these at all?

What sort of monitor have you got? is it widescreen? If it is widescreen, surely a higher screen res is possible.....

I'm running BoBII at 1440x900, 32bit @ 60Hz on a 19" screen.

Cheers!
Rob

Particle Density, not recommended above medium I believe.
Stick with it and you'll get it running great .

Okay. I have tried every suggestion guys but, the game continues to crash. It has such wonderful potential but, possibly more trouble than it is worth. I hope you can all begin to understand my frustration. I have jumped through a lot of hoops yet, I find the game to continue to be very unstable. ;)

Error #1:

Run time error! This application has requested the run time to terminate in an unusual way.

Error #2:

Vertex buffer creation failure.

I have yet to play this game once without it crashing.

Have you ensured that background applications, particularly anti-virus are off ?

1 disconnect from internet( I switch off modem it reboots quickly)
2 switch off anti virus and firewall
3 Go into task manager to ensure that they are off;
click "start" type "task manager" into search box, click "view running processes" click "processes" and from the list click your anti virus and firewall and then "end process"

You can either wait until you reboot to switch them on again or just click on their icons and do it that way.

Once we know that background applications aren't causing the crashes then we can proceed.

So, what happens when you click the little red down arrow on the "3D Resolution" line,
and scroll down to find the "1920x1080 @ 60" option and select it?

Concidering the graphics quality you could try to change of the setting in "filtering" to one of the AF settings (i.e. AF 2- AF 16)
Your selection "All" does not include AF and may not work with all GFX cards.

Quoting the manual:
Quote:
These filtering settings increase the quality of image-mapping. The "all" setting enables multi-textured dithering effects and may not be supported by all cards. Any of the various Anisotropic-filtering levels will include the multi-textured dithering effects. Anisotropic 16X gives the best visual quality, especially with the terrain as it is drawn out. The higher the level of Anisotropic Filtering applied, the clearer the textures will appear, but the greater the strain on your graphics card in filtering the image to produce the clearer representation of textures.

Perhaps this is of help...

Again, please be specific and comfirm and double check that you did the following correctly:

You have something basic wrong, I think. We have 1000's of players running BOBII on windows 7 and with a gamers PC like yours.

First, in Options->Adv->Game , Be sure skip in-game videos is checked.

Did you update your Direct X 9c to the latest version (remember Directx 10, 11.and 9c are all different and stand alone for different games and BOBII uses 9c). See this link for the Microsoft Web Installer (only updates what is out of date). If you did not update your DirectX this is your issue:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta ... laylang=en

If you have a wide screen monitor please re-check that you did the following:

First, set you "windows" resolution (in windows) to your monitors native resolution.

Second, because you have a Wide Screen Monitor try in game setting of resolution:

Set in options->GFX use Windows Desktop Resolution (Recommended)=OFF

Then manually select the resolution (in game) as close as possible to your monitors native resolution from the pull down list of resolution options.

See Pics below for my set up (my native monitor resolution is 1600x1200) so use your or the closes possible. Set all other settings like mine to start.
