I have done everything suggested to alleviate the incessant crashes I am experiencing in this game. I have never had this kind of difficulty with a flight sim game before and I have many on my hard drive.

Options->Adv->Game , Be sure skip in-game videos is checked. DONE.

Set you "windows" resolution (in windows) to your monitors native resolution. DONE.

In game setting of resolution set in options->GFX use Windows Desktop Resolution (Recommended)=OFF. DONE.

Manually select the resolution (in game) as close as possible to your monitors native resolution. DONE.

Change of the setting in "filtering" to one of the AF settings (AF 16). DONE.

Switch off anti virus. DONE.

Particle Density, not recommended above medium. DONE.

Use Windows Desktop Resolution" to "OFF. DONE.

So, again, regarding the resolution, do you get an entry at the 3D resolution line
that offers you "1920x1080 @ 60", have you selected that, and does that result
in the 3D display running up in 1920 x 1080?

As for crashes, where are you when you get a crash? In the 3D?

Next, have a look in your root folder for BoB2, for a file called "crashlog.txt" .
If it's there, open the file in notepad, and scroll to the bottom. Going upward,
look for the first line of text you encounter that looks approximately like

then copy that line plus the following lines down through the stack listing, the Error date, to the

I do not use a short cut on my desktop to run the game. I double click on the direct game icon inside the game folder. I also used the exact download link you provided for Direct X. I tried installing this version of Direct X however, first I receive an error that it did not install correctly. When I try a second attempt of installing, I receive an error stating that: "An internal system error occurred. Please refer to DXError.log and DirectX.log in your Windows folder to determine problem."

LOL! this is just getting comical now. Gotta love "Microsoft Windows".

I get into the game, get past the loading screen, actually am able to play the game for a few minutes, use different cameras, inside, outside, fly by, etc... however, without fail the game emits a loud constant buzz sound and freezes the entire game, screen and computer. Which requires a hard re-boot of the computer each and every time I attempt to play this game.

You may want to find a procedure to un-install DrirectX 9C , clean up any pieces left behind, and then re-install DirectX 9C.

Having old DirectX 9c files may impact other programs in addition to BOBII.

I'm here so I might as well weigh in:

1. DirectX is now just called DirectX, not 9 or 10 or 11 because the latest DirectX runtime installer will install whatever is appropriate for your OS. If you have Windows XP, you'll get 9.0c. If you have Vista/Win7, you'll get DirectX 11. The latest version is labeled "June 2010". Here's a link to the full redistributable installer:

Run that and it's guaranteed you have the latest DirectX.

2. You have an ATI/AMD video card. These are notorious for buggy drivers that change their bugs from one release to the next. It's quite possible you'll need to either update your drivers, or if they are already updated, roll them back to a previous version. ATI/AMD are just that way. My advice is stick with GeForce cards.

3. Is your monitor using a VGA cable, or is it using a DVI or HDMI cable? VGA cables usually have blue connectors, while DVI have white ones, and HDMI are usually all black with narrow connectors. If you are using VGA, your monitor may not report the correct information about its display abilities to the OS, and hence your resolution options could be affected.

4. If we have enough information about your system, somebody here could literally write a config file for you and it would have the proper settings. It's possible another ATI user here has enough in common with your setup that you could just use their config file and it would work.

5. BoB2 is an updated version of a game that was released in 2000. Yes, every aspect has been improved in some way, but it's still based on that original game. It's possible that it just won't live up to your expectations, graphically speaking. Don't let that discourage you too much, however, because the consensus among flight-simmers is that it has the best single-player experience of any WWII fighter game, and not because of the graphics. There is a huge amount of historical detail in this game, as well as the best AI opponents you'll find in any sim right now.

Windows XP and newer will support DX9. Windows Vista and 7 will support DX11. When you run the installer it determines your Windows version and copies the appropriate files. Windows 7 does indeed get full DX9 support, and D3DX9_43.dll is part of that.
