Hello.

I just purchased and downloaded the game from A2Asimulations.com. However, it is running at version 2.06. I assume this is very old since the graphic are horrible. What order do I need to update the game versions or can I go directly to the latest updated version? Thanks for your help.

Yes, you only need to install the latest patch - currently 2.11

You WILL need to update the directX 9.0c...or is it 9.1c - it's been so
long now I've forgotten - if you haven't in the last year or two.

As you haven't said how strong your system is, you should check here:
viewtopic.php?f=17&t=10091
as the patches have advanced the computation load considerably over
the original. Also do note the release notes for the patch, which also
provide some help with deciding how to configure your install for the
machine and OS that you have.

Ah ha! Thank you PV! I have a very robust system with a high-end video card. I do not have an issue running the game at full graphics settings. I guess I was just disappointed. I'm used to much higher resolution combat flight sims.

I am a bit confused though. I was viewing screen shots on this page. http://www.a2asimulations.com/bob/ but, even after upgrading all the way to ver. 2.11 my game still looks nothing like the screen shots that appear on that page. My game is very pixelated and just flat out ugly! I have all of my graphics settings set to full and I am running the latest Direct X software from Microsoft. I believe those screen shots are rather misleading. Do you supposed those are screen shots from the BETA ver. 2.12?

System:
Windows 7 Home Premium
AMD Phenom II X6 1100T Processor 3.30 GHz
8.0 GB RAM
64-bit Operating System

Graphics Card:
AMD Radeon HD6950 1GB GDDR5 Memory

Then you have something going wrong. I run happily @ 1080x1920 plus
anti-aliasing, and the pixels are too small to see. (ATI 6850, by the way).

What setting do you have selected for 3D resolution in Options>GFX ?

Drift though the last few pages of the screenshot thread
viewtopic.php?f=10&t=1732&start=3487

to get an idea of what view you should be getting...

I assume you are running a wide Screen monitor, if true give this a try. Just follow the directions in the link:

viewtopic.php?f=17&t=12695

Yes, you PC will run BOBII super.

Step up and install the 2.11 and implement the windows 7 fix below:

Note6: Windows Vista and Window 7 users. All Vista and Windows 7 users will need to apply the 'Vista/Windows 7 fix' to your desktop shortcut as a fresh 2.11 install will overwrite the previous shortcut.
Right click on shortcut and go to properties. Go to the compatibility tab. Check "disable desktop composition" and check the privilege level, run this program as an administrator.

Thank you but, no dice. I tried all the settings you guys suggested but, still incredibly disappointing look and feel. Pixelated and crashing to the desk top in every game. I'm afraid my patience is wearing thin. I should have done a little more research before I made my impulse purchase. Perhaps it is doesn't play well with Windows 7, 64 bit? As I read through more forum posts, I realized this is actually an older Windows XP game. Yikes! I saw those mouth watering screen shots and thought that it was a new release. Oops! (Big sigh) And perhaps I got this game confused with something else similar.

I will try uninstalling the game and re-install one last time and report back if I fail or succeed. I really appreciate everyone's help. Great community here. ;-)

Monitor Screen Resolution:

Display: 1. G215H (Analog)
Resolution: 1920 x 1080 (recommended)
Orientation: Landscape

I could be completely wrong and don't have BDG after my name so probably am...but BoB doesn't like background apps and crashing could be anti-virus running.

Some of them are difficult to switch off and you need to go into task manager to check. Don't give up just yet, once you have it running it's a great game.

You have something basic wrong, I think. We have 1000's of players running BOBII on windows 7 and with a gamers PC like yours.

First, in Options->Adv->Game , Be sure skip in-game videos is checked.

Did you update your Direct X 9c to the latest version (remember Directx 10, 11.and 9c are all different and stand alone for different games and BOBII uses 9c). See this link for the Microsoft Web Installer (only updates what is out of date):

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta ... laylang=en

If you have a wide screen monitor please re-check that you did the following:

First, set you "windows" resolution (in windows) to your monitors native resolution.

Second, because you have a Wide Screen Monitor try in game setting of resolution:

Set in options->GFX use Windows Desktop Resolution (Recommended)=OFF

Then manually select the resolution (in game) as close as possible to your monitors native resolution from the pull down list of resolution options.

Kelly,

To take a screenshot press either PrtScrn or Ctrl+P.
The shots are stored in a folder called STILLS, this can be found in your main BoBII install directory.

Keep at it.... you'll meet lots of clever folks hanging around here (myself not included  ) and I'm confident they can help you get in the air properly soon :)

Keep the questions coming too if you have any more

Cheers!
Rob

Thanks Rob! A folder called "STILLS". I would have never figured that one out. I have attached a "STILL" of what I'm seeing in game. So, I hope you can understand why I'm disappointed.

Thanks guys on the heads up about using the Photbucket service. I was trying to "attach" the images earlier and it obviously didn't work. ;)

Was looking for something that looked like this! Absolutely Stunning!

But, got something that looked like this! Very Disappointing. I do believe my computer handles high-end jet fighter sims very well so, I don't understand why it is having such a difficult time with a WWII flight sim. Puzzling.
