When I re-installed this morning, I first installed BoB, then 2.11, then 2.11 multiskin.
I strongly suspect that I hadn't uninstalled the old programs completely, hence getting the same huge text and general unsightlyness.
Having now kicked the bloomin' lot into touch, I'll try another install later.
I still can't understand why this game and its patches (up to 2.11 multiskin), ran so well on my old tower with XP pro, same memory, graphics card etc.
Possibly time to invest in another memory chip, methinks.
Battle of Britain English Text has stopped working
Re: Battle of Britain English Text has stopped working
If you were previously running a similar hardware
with XP, and switched to W7 without getting more
RAM and and doing the 32 bit OS /3GB memory
switch, you probably have just run into the bump
in background processes in W7 compared to XP.
There may be ways of getting W7 to run leaner,
such as using the "stop_srv.bat" script included
with BoB2 since about patch2.06, but I think it
predates W7, so may be only partially effective.
I don't know, I've never run it - when I went to
W7 I went immediately to 6GB W7-64, so I have
never had memory issues.
Anyway, stop_srv.bat was included for people who
were running out of RAM to run BoB2 back then,
to try to free up as much overhead as possible,
but as time has gone on, and BDG members have
upgraded their machines, the resource appetite
of the patched sim has grown correspondingly.
You'll note the multipoint advisory that was posted
in the release notes for V2.12 http://www.a2asimulations.com/forum/vie ... 10&t=33263
It ought to have been posted for 2.11 as well, but it
took us a while to determine the issue. Testing revealed
that a 2GB system would have trouble with RAM space
if all settings were maxed, and a mission with large
numbers of planes were run.

Re: Battle of Britain English Text has stopped working
this may have been asked and answered, but i couldn't see it mentioned.
What setting do you have the particles on? Even with a big system (16GB Ram) i've found that once there's a lot of aircraft in the air i can get crashes on Medium Particles
I've put changes my settings to low and never noticed any difference in graphics, (everything else maxed) but also not had crashes.

Re: Battle of Britain English Text has stopped working
Thanks for all the answers and tips fellas, but it looks like me and BoB are going to have to part company.
Despite completely wiping anything to do with the game, and trying fresh installs (several times now), I'm still getting the huge text and colours completely blurred. I can't even get into the game itself. Every time I click on the game icon, everything becomes incredibly bloated. Apparently, it's putting my screen into an unsupported resolution, and try as I might, I can't put it right.
During my efforts to get the game running correctly, I've obviously clicked or checked something which I shouldn't, and up to this point, I can't seem to reverse it.
I now have no idea how to correct what has happened. You may have worked this out for yourselves, but I'm no computer boffin.
Really disappointed.
Oh, once I come out of the BoB window, my pc reverts to it's normal operation, with the recommended screen resolution etc.

People, be very careful clicking on any link in here.Webz wrote:That is unfortunate, the only other things i can suggest are Graphics Driver updates or this

I did, and I now have a problem with my pc.
It's telling me my Windows 7 isn't genuine, and it keeps sending my screen black.
