Ok it looks like I may have fixed the Lan multiplayer too, not 100% certain, on scenario1, but worth a try:-

Scenario1:-
Try team play or missions, toggle between these. And try joining several times.

Scenario2:-
#On Host PC:-
-Choose create game
-select your options but don't click 'continue' yet.

#Back on client PC:-
-click on join game (I didn't worry about ip address here when it prompts you. just left it blank as stated).
-click ok

#Back on host again:-
-click on 'continue'.

now I can see the session.

If still no luck, turn off windows firewall and Antivirus, and try the above again.

Hope the above helps people out there...

Regarding previous post, When I did get it working (lan multiplayer) I had synch issues.
Plane I was chasing would not be in the place it should be.

Still I was happy that there was a multiplayer component to a game that never had it before.
Does anyone know will this be fixed in later releases and when?

It would be awesome to play it on the internal network.

Cheers

There is a US man called alexcraig that is often around here, that likes to do BoBII Multi Player sessions.
He is the one that knows best about it.

We would need a coder to improve BoBII Multi Player.
Our main coder, Buddye has not been around for many months, now.

Hi Stickman,

Thanks for your help, Alex has been great.

I actually fixed the Multiplayer lan issue, Join session not seeing the Host.

disabling the UPnP = universal plug and play on the router did the trick.

Cheers

Hi Guys

Just wanted to ask about the multiplayer for Bob2 wov, it's been awhile since I posted.

will there be more coding done on this, it is pretty good on what we have already, I just noticed some things when playing on lan
with two pc's:-

-when you respawn the plane is in damaged state and just crashes to the ground, this will happen intemittently.
-the cockpit panel is not clickable, the option for realistic control is greyed out
-I did not land the plane at the airstrip, land it anywhere else, it ends the session, I'll test this again, perhaps I just need to land at an airstrip

Thanks

We always live in hope, but currently we have no one
active who has any skill at coding network stuff.

I wonder who out there in the gaming community can help out
There's the ATG group for IL-2 sturmovik COD, I might go and post in there if anyone is willing

Yeh, just tested it with death match if you land after a short while that your on the ground it respawns you again.

I love multiplayer I haven't tried the campaign yet but will do it shortly, as I've been told before I don't know what I'm missing
great game worth every penny for 20USD.

First of all, thanks to Lewis, Admin for helping me to log in here again. I changed pc towers and for various reasons, could not log in.

Right, my desktop is a HP DX2250
Windows 7 32 bit
Processor is an AMD Athlon 64x2 dual core 5000+
2 GB memory
Graphics card is Nvidia Ge force 8400 GS
Monitor is 19 inch NEC Multisync LCD 1990 fxp

I've not had this tower for very long, it was bought as a reasonably priced refurb.
I thought it was about time I installed BoB2.
Lots and lots of problems which I've managed to iron out and finally get it running. I've tried my best to follow all the advice offered on here, but just can't proceed past this 'English Text Stopped Working' problem.
I've actually managed to have a good few battles, but the end result is always the same, the game freezes, the sound continues for a while, then the whole lot just crashes, then I get the ETSW box appear, which then searches for a solution, then just stops altogether, and I have to shut the pc down.
I have not managed to find the bdg.txt file. I open the file location, search for said file, but cannot locate it anywhere.
Whilst I appreciate my system is not particularly high end, my previous systems were even lower end with windows XP, but did not ever have a single problem. Had some fantastic flights with those systems.
So, if someone could point me to this bdg.txt file, I'll have a play with the settings there, but after that, will just have to give up on the whole thing.
Frustrated now.
Thanks in advance.

The sim won't run without a bdg.txt file, so it's there.
It lives in the bobroot folder, wherever you have put
that - the default is C:\Battle of Britain II. The best way
to find your files is to set your file manager to display in
a user-friendly easily decipherable way, if you haven't
already done so: open the file manager, click on tools
in the menu, then folder options>view, and click to remove
any check mark in the box for "Hide extensions for known
file types", then click OK to close; then on the right hand
side of the lower menu bar of the manager, find the usually
black arrow button second along (third from the right) which
says "More Options" when the mouse hovers over it. Click
on it, and move the slider which appears to "Details".

Now go to the top of the file list, and the first heading on
the left will be "Name". Click on that, perhaps twice, so
it displays a list of folders, and scroll down, and you will
see the files listed in alphabetical order. You may see
several files named bdg.bu1, where the digit on the end
changes. These are backups of previous bdg.txt file versions;
the machine makes a new one any time you change an entry
in the GUI options screens. Below these you should see the
current bdg.txt.

Next, what level have you patched up to? You have a 32 bit
W7 OS, and 2GB RAM, so you won't be able to run patch 2.11
or 2.12 with all the settings maxed, as it uses just about 2GB
and you need space for background tasks and the basic OS stuff.
You can get it to work if you install another GB of RAM and
do the "32 bit /3GB memory switch", as described here:
http://a2asimulations.com/forum/viewtop ... 17&t=33282
but you may not be able to get more RAM on your machine,
or feel comfortable making the adjustment. In that case, you
should be able to get things to run by dialing down some of the
sim features, in particular ground objects and horizon distance.
You can knock lots of things back, til you're running without crashes,
then try pushing things up to see what you can get away with.

I think you will find that if the program keeps on crashing the BDG.txt is never made. It is only made when the program is closed down properly.

I would suggest starting the program. Set up all your options in the option settings, then close the program properly. That should save the BDG.txt. I think I am right in the above.

Yes, that is correct - if the program has *never* been
exited without a crash, the first bdg.txt will not have
been written.

Well, I've been 'playing' with the settings.
I actually had a few good battles, but it always ends with the inevitable - English Text Stopped Working.
I put all the settings so low, it was like flying through a thick haze, and picking out enemy aircraft was pretty hard.
So, I tried having another play, and this sent my pc doolally. All the text went huge and I got a dialog box saying 'resolution not supported'.
I uninstalled everything (or thought I did), but noticed the BoB icon did not disappear as it normally does after an uninstall. This morning I thought I'd have another bash and re-installed.
Nope, everything still huge and resolution not supported.
I've uninstalled again, but noticed there were some patches I failed to uninstall before.
Everything BoB related has now been wiped from the pc.
Is it worth trying another install?

Tetley,

You have not said what patch you are using.

Looking at your machine specs. You are right on the limit. You have only 2 GB of memory so there is not much point in using the 3 GB switch. As PV has already said you will struggle to use 2.11 and further struggle to use 2.12. You would need to add a further 1 GB of memory and then use the 3 GB switch. I don't know how big your hard disk is and whether windows is setting up the size of the page file but that may need increasing in size. Whether a bigger page file or not will help. I do not know. I do wonder if the program is overwriting memory areas that it shouldn't do. Hence the machine going doolally. "Just guesswork"

I also suspect you still have some programs running in the background that are causing you problems. Bob2 is a bit selfish and likes to run on its own with no other programs running in the background.

At the moment I would not recommend running past patch 2.11.
Prem.
