Hi Buddye & Stickman,
Thanks for your replies. About to take 2 weeks off on holiday, but will try running down the lines of enquiry you've suggested after I get back, Derermined to get BoBII up-and-running problem-free. Rgds., Brian.

Have now had time to focus a bit more on this issue. Defragged HDD, uninstalled & clean installed BoBII & patched to 2.11 + multiskin. Have latest DirectX (courtesy of latest Rise of Flight update). Now running stably; only very occasional CTDs coming out of 3D mode to e.g., refly an Instant Action mission. Need to make sure everything is debugged as am running Crossfire Radeon 7950s & not sure am getting the best out of them. But at least, finally, I can run my favourite flightsim for hours - rather than minutes - before a crash occurs (if then). Now convinced that there was a peculiar hardware issue with the otherwise good 870A Fuzion board, RAM I was using & BoBII. The new Asus Sabertooth board seems rock solid in comparison. Looking forward to getting my BoBII installation optimised again in anticipation of the 2.12 version.

System:
Asus Sabertooth 990FX motherboard
AMD Phenom II X6 1090T 3.20GHz
Antec H620 CPU watercooler + dual Scythe Gentle Typhoon 1850 rpm radiator fans
4 x 4Gb Corsair Dominator CMP16GX3M4X1866C9 DDR3 RAM running at 1.5v & 1333 MHz.
2 x 1Tb Samsung HDD's in RAID 1 mode
2 x ATi Radeon HD7950 OC 3Gb in Crossfire mode (at 900MHz GPU clock/ 1250 MHz memory clock defaults)
Windows 7 64-bit OS
Acer HN274H monitor (@ 1920 x 1080 @ 120Hz)

3D settings in AMD Vision Engine Control panel (v12.6 64-bit drivers):
Anti-aliasing: Use application settings (standard filtering 2x sampling); morphological unchecked
Anisotropic Filtering: Use application settings
Tessellation: Use application settings
Catalyst AI: High Quality Texture Filtering; Enable Surface Format Optimisation checked
VSync: Off unless application specifies
Anti-aliasing mode: Performance
OpenGL: Triple buffering checked
AMD Crossfire Mode: Default
