Ok, Before I offer ideas would you please post your PC spec's with a DXDIAG so we can review you computer and check a few things:

Here's how to create a DXDIAG:

DX Diag is a utility/report that dumps technical info to a text file. The file is fairly lengthy, and is divided into sections for easy management. The detail in this file may help tech support discover 'related issues' leading to the solution of problems users are having.

*Click on your "Start" button.
*Select "Run".
*Clear the "Open" box and type "dxdiag" (without the quotes).
*Click "OK".
*A box called "DirectX Diagnostic Tool" should open.
*At the bottom of this window, you will find a button called "Save All Information".
*Click this button.
*A box will pop up prompting you to save a file called "dxdiag.txt"
*Save this file to your "Desktop".
*Now you should see a text file called "dxdiag.txt" sitting on your Windows desktop.
*You can then copy/paste this file to BOB2 Technical Support for Diagnosis.
*That's it!! Now we will have the info necessary to help you efficiently

Just cut and paste it into this thread and yes it is large.

How did you install the 2.04 patch? Was it over your 2.03 install?

JOLLEYROGER,

I'm no expert on analyzing DX diag but something else you said caught my attention. You mentioned that you used each of the previous game patches before installing 2.04....

Try uninstalling the game, then delete the BoB2 folder on the hard drive and then run a registry cleaner to remove all remnants of BoB2.

Then restart the PC, install the game fresh from the CD and ONLY run the 2.04 patch. You DO NOT need to run the incremental previous patches, just patch directly to 2.04.

Hi and thanks for the information on your PC. You PC is not strong by todays standards but I think it will run BOBII.

The Key to getting off to a good start in BOBII is to do some important PC maintenance and then a well planned install. We have had great success with the following procedure:

Install both the game CD and 2.04 self installer in "safe mode". If you do not know how to do a safe mode install please do a search of windows help for "safe Mode" for instructions.

1. download the 2.04
2. Uninstall old version or BoBII
3. Defrag hard drive
4. Run a registry cleaner (like CC cleaner - a free program)
5. Delete all files except keyboard from the BoBII folder. These old files left by the uninstaller can cause issues with the new EXE.
6. Reinstall game CD (in Safe Mode)
7. Run 2.04 patch (only 2.04 patch in safe mode)
8. JUST BEFORE PLAYING GAME, turn OFF Anti-virus, Spyware, and other unnecessary background programs as they can slow the game down and interrupt BoBII with pop-ups (etc,) and cause a CTD.

Start the game using default setting until you see how your PC performs then you may be able to change settings slowly one at a time.

Hello my Buddye, :-(
Ill do my best to do all you wanted me to do,but...
after installation in safety-Mode i run the game,click on fly(Spain?) and ....
Same as before! :-( :-(
LL try it again with downloading the 2.04 patc again, and if it not works...
After installation there was a pop up(now and at the older installations!),which says:
Eingabeeinstellungen konnte nicht geladen werden.Versuche automatische Konfiguratin!
After clicking yes:
Automatische konfiguration erfolgreich!
Dont know what it means in English!
But Buddye and all the others:
Thank you for trying to help me,and maybe in a future Sky...
Salute,Jolley

Hi JOLLEYROGER,

If you get Spanish text instead of German, redownload 2.04 international from the links in this post:
http://shockwaveproductions.com/forum/v ... php?t=5559

The error messages you get are harmless and basically say there is no config yet because none was created by you manually or automatically yet, but the autoconfig worked.

If things still do not work after the new 2.04, after a failed attempt to fly, copy and paste the debuglog.txt into this thread. You will find it in the directory of the bob.exe. Also open the bdg.txt in an ascii editor like notepad and search for "force" to find a line like
FORCE_WINDOWED_MODE=OFF
and change the OFF to ON and try again. Sometimes in fullscreenmode one does not see all error messages.
