For those with graphic problems...

Post by 602RAF_Puff »

I had very similar problems with tearing in a lot of games last year...the problem seemed to stem from the AGP being set at auto or x8 in the bios...seems my system hated it and when I switched to forcing x2 AGP in there it fixed all the problems. Worth having a look at!

My system as follows
AMD 3000XP
1 GB pc2700 Memory
6800 128 MB card
Jetway kt400 Mobo
'Damn...my photo doesn't show up!'

The problem is a lot of new P4 bios's do not have this function any more. They have also cut out the apeture size as well.

I have chatted with a guy with fps issues and we tried a LOT of things and AGP speed did not matter much.

I would have thought limiting your AGP 8X card to a 2X setting would cause a drop in FPS as less information is reaching the processor? Seems like a bad idea to me, or did you mean AGP aperture?

Changing from 8X to 4x AGP is has not noticeable fps effect.
Changing to 2x slows down the system.
You can enable the change using Rivatuner, w/o using the BIOS.
