Seriously messed up coastal textures - white cliffs

Post by madbadvlad »

Took a scenic tour of the south coast heading west and things are looking ugly down there, perhaps the Luftwaffe decided to target famous landmarks to bring down our morale :? Anyway, here are the pics, something else for you guys to fix!

madbadvlad,

We saw this at the south side of the Ilse of Wight.
I see exactly the same look you show.
Did you see them anywhere else?
As yet we do not know what causes it. I've heard nothing more about it.

I saw the same effect in Hitman 2 just after it was released. Updating to the recommended video driver resolved the issue.

Unfortunately I can also reproduce this which means its a real issue. Only I can only see it round the Isle of Wight. We'll get this sorted quite easily I hope, but there are certain other priorities first ;)

Stickman - have only seen this effect on coastal textures, nothing inland yet, but will keep an eye open for it.

James B - good to hear you can reproduce it. Certainly not what I would call a priority issue and can appreciate there are bigger things to sort out :)

madbadvlad,

It looks like in that second pic you may have seen it at somewhere other than the Isle of Wight, which is the only place I spotted it yet.

I have not ran the length of the entire coast looking for it yet.
Where do you see it? The locations of this problem likely will help us figure out the problem.

Its the mainland, not the Isle of Wight. If I had thought at the time I would have taken a screenie of the map to show location, but it was basically all of the chalk coastline east and west of Dover.

Thanks, madbadvlad.

Though I had hoped it was only the Isle of Wight. :(

I was flying the Historic - Attack on Portsmouth mission last night which started me way above the Isle of Wight and I suddenly realised I made an embarrasing mistake regarding the reporting of the coastal texture errors. My errors are in fact ONLY along the south coast of the Isle of Wight. When I first reported them above I was flying so low along the cliffs that I thought I was flying along the mainland coast  Sorry about the misinformation!
Pics below of coastal errors and location on south coast of Isle of Wight

There may be a clue in that shot. The Needles at the West End of the Isle of Wight are messed up. That leads me to suspect that terrain elevation is going astray.

For me it's an intermittent effect, though. Hmm..
"Ah yes, Michael (Parkinson)," Bader replied, "But these particular Fockers were Messerschmitts..."
