Finally got my copy today and I gave it a try for 3 hours.
I won't bother anybody with the well known bugs, "english text CTD", low FPS, german altimeter bug that, however, occurred to me too.
The most annoying thing I had is this graphic bug...it sounds like that the terrain area I'm flying over always screws up!
That's crappy as you can see because it's very difficult to land and take off...
Here's a couple of screenshots:
I have a GeForce 5700LE with 67.66, the suggested drivers for my version
I tried with different settings configuration but the problem still occurs
A part from this I get frequent freezes even with no clouds and lone plane that result into a Ctrl-Alt-Del
Sorry to say that I have to stop playing it until it has been definitely fixed ...it is almost unplayable
Very annoying graphic bug!

try some newer drivers, i think last of stable/WHQL certified 60's were 66.93 try those. The ones you are running might be beta's. I use 71.25 if you use winXP's driver roll back it should be no probs to test.

JamesB,
it's not a single place...the area I'm flying over at the moment always get screwed up...it follows me like a shadow.
Lewis,
are you sure those you refers to are the newest?
I installed 66.93 in past then 67.66.
I'll try with 71 version

jmazzo..
Snuffy was indeed seeing this. I advised him to Turn Hi Res Landscape to Off and look again.
The High Res Landscape is not going to give a big difference in look.
With my machine I can turn it On.
Developers,
I know that is the blendmap.dds rearing it's ugly head on some systems.

Try doing that, jmazzo.Stickman was right, under the Adv. / Game settings Hires Landscape was defaulted on, I unticked it and at this time all appears well.

Jmazzo ~S~!
I've been able to recreate this problem on my WinXP system using GeForceFX 5700o/c 256mb card.
It looks like a driver problem. I tried rolling back to my old graphics driver (71.89) to see if there was any difference in performance with the fps, but that ground effect is the EXACT same thing I got as a result (see pic)
I went back to the latest 77.77 drivers, and it goes away.
Also, I found alot of CTD's are caused by accessing the in flight config menu (F12). As soon as you go back to cockpit, the game will CTD as soon as you touch a joystick button or keyboard control. Pressing Alt-X to end the flight takes you back to the menu screens though without any problem.
<EDIT> Oh yeah, forgot to say, this is a local thing to the player rather than a selected area on the terrain - the effect follows you around, and always seems right next to / infront of (if looking out the cockpit) or underneath if in an external view.
Cheers!

If up to me, I would disable this. I have never used it.

If the blendmap bug is Driver related, then this is good news.
Code here OK.
I have been using latest Nvidia and ATI drivers on my two computers during developement.
Yes. Known bug that has plagued us since the Rowan days. Also, I found alot of CTD's are caused by accessing the in flight config menu (F12).
