Texture problems.

Post by KevinJarvis »

I have 2 problems in repainting the P51D Mustang.

1. In order to repaint a real life Mustang I had to add a red stripe in the middle of the white colored spinner. All looks good when the engine is shut down. But when the engine is running the red stripe appears on the prop blades and the spinner does not have a texture.
I looked for a 'spinning' prop texure and I believe it is 'prop.bmp' ...is it not?
Is this where I need to paint the white so the spinner has texture when the engine is running?

2. I've updated the cfg file and now have the Long Range Mustangs.
But, the drop tanks have not texture and I don't find a texture in the files.
Where do I paint or get the texture for the drop tanks?

Thanks for the help and the great products.

I have figured out the solution for problem #1. Sometimes the obvious gets by me like a ground ball to Bill Buckner.

Still no textures for the drop tanks though.

Thanks Rob.
This explains the problem. I don't have that texture.

If you have the latest FSX update it's in the common 'texture' folder (actually it's a DDS file rather than a BMP file now) along with all the other common files. If you want to paint the tanks for a particular aircraft you will need to save the tank texture to the specific repaint folder rather than saving back to the 'texture' folder. That way the repainted tanks will only appear on the repaint in question and not on all the paints.

I am using FS9.
Any ideas for this?

The tank_t.bmp belongs to models with tanks. This file should be in one of the these folders: "WoP P51D_t" or "WoP p51H_t" and their skins folders: "texture.#".

My apologies for seeming so dense regarding this situation.
I came to find that out of almost 20 repaints I had installed only 3 of them had the tank texture.
I guess I was just not noticing it when I pulled them up on DXTBmp.
Thanks again.
