A new pony in the stable ‘UPUA EPOPS’

Post by Shift_E »

Here’s a work in progress of Paul Allen’s ‘UPUPA EPOPS’ stationed at Arlington, Washington of the Flying Heritage Collection. I finally did a polished aluminum Mustang and it should be finished pretty soon.

Pretty!!

I was going to ask you one of these days why LouIV et al were not bare metal...but I did notice the actual restore aircraft were also painted gray.

Outstanding, as always!

Hi Dan,

Thanks and yes the others were painted finishes that I tried to match.

Hi Ron:

What information are you looking for?

I'll dig out some more pics over the weekend and send them to ya.

Did you check out the "fighterfactory"? They now have the aircraft in their collection.

Hi Bill,

Yes, I went to fighterfactory, both fighterfactory.com and fighterfactory.net. Is the re-paint you want "Double Trouble"? I must have missed a post. oops:

Hi Ron:

You didn't miss anything! The one I would like is "Double Trouble Two".

In the war, the same pilot had 2 a/c - The first one was called "Double Trouble" (it had invasion stripes) and apparently one day when he was not on flight status, another pilot had an incident with it and it crashed.

When Capt. Bailey returned to flight status, they gave him another a/c and he called it "Double Trouble Two" (which was later on because it had no Invasion stripes).

My brother actually had both paint schemes however I would prefer the "Double Trouble Two" version since it was the one he had the longest.

I will say this tho - it WAS NOT polished alum.!!!! Just a nice shiney silver!

Hope this helps - have a great day.

Hi Bill,

Double trouble will be a nice repaint to have. :) I made some good progress since it's very close to 'UPUPA EPOPS'. Here's what I have so far, still needs a bit more work.

Let me know if you see anything out of place.
