Prepaint Help

Post by Hollister »

I would like to do a repaint for a friend of mine.

Could some please post the basic steps to get a repaint to work.

I have the repaint kit and can add color to the template, ie blue nose and name, but am unable to get to work on the actual model. It shows up as all gray.

Once I understand the basic steps it will be a big help.

Thanks in advance for any information.

Make sure the final file is in 32bit (with alpha channel) format.
I would use Msoft SDK's Image Tool for saving the final file.

Yep I've been having a bit of a problem with BXT or BTX or whatever it's called. I end up with parts missing from my finished formated files.

Rob,

How do you save a file with Alpha Channel format, the option to select it in PS is grayed out?

Rob, could you please post the couple of steps you do to make it work? Say like adding a blue nose to an airplane.

Thanks,

Hollister

Go to the Channels and add New Channel. This is your alpha. The option will be active now.

I paint the nose blue? ;)

OK. Qiuck, and a bit pro, way: Find the nose area on the template, mark it around with the Polygonal Lasso Tool, press CTRL+U to get the Hue/Saturation adjustments, move the HUE slider left or right.
In case your original color is grey or white check the Colorize, and move the other sliders, as well.

Save the file as 32-bit TGA. Open it in the Image Tool (or DXTbmp), choose the format - 8bit Index or DXT3 and save as a final BMP file. Match the original name of the file. Beware typos :)

I hope it helps
