Made an idiotic decision, one that kills real pilots all the time. The "I'll just make it there" syndrome. I should've chosen an alternate that I didn't have to fly through the soup to reach. I didn't, and my virtual self ended up dead. Glad we have sims for this.
Took off from Creswell/Hobby, with the intention of landing at Siletz Bay. Sporting the new paint job by Taildraggin68!
Gorgeous outside...
...and inside.
Great cruise settings.
This should've been a clue to look for an alternate.
An even larger clue.
Here's the last thing I saw before it all went to hell.
I won't even bother posting the aftermath. Needless to say, a complete overhaul was needed.

The weather up in the Northwest isn’t so great, but so typical. Sometimes I don’t miss living there. I set my weather a week or so back historically, to slightly better weather. I actually just flew a similar route into Siletz (from Pearson, VERY close to where I used to live). Ended up with a 13 knot crosswind in the Bonanza, but she handled predictably and I made it in safe.

Aw man! Well I guess some body work and paint can be reapplied, but your gonna have to call Servpro to handle the aftermath in the seats

I understand it was CFIT ? Or wind got you ?
Re: I'll just make it there...
@Taildraggin68 - at least the interior mess was somewhat color-matching...
The cause of the accident was a stall, with zero altitude to recover. As I was in the middle of that mess, I decided to climb to the west and get towards the ocean. I had been configured for landing as I was one mile out of Siletz, just waiting to get visual. Once I started maneuvering to get out of there, I just started piling up the mistakes. I should have just found an alternate.

Unfortunately this is a classic. At least in the sim it’s not as tragic.

Bummer, man! A similar thing happened to me during the Sunday MP flight through the mountain passes in the Switzerland/Italy area. IMC, zero viz, too much happened too fast. Glad it's a sim!

Hi,
Very nice looking model and shots Chunk! I had a similar experience a year ago in the Cherokee, here. It's good, that we have the sim to allow these experiments to ourselves.
Did you have the option for and IFR approach?
Cheerz,
Vladimir

I did, but I did not think of that prior to take-off, as I neglected to check the destination weather. Apparently my skull is just filled with bone instead of brains. So many things went wrong that could’ve been avoided on that flight.LZ-WIL wrote:
