I think I will stick with the 520 till I am a pro with managing this plane's characteristics.

After that, I'm going to go hard and fast!

The 520. Why?

Because I think (assumption alert) it's the original and most used engine in the V35B, the 550 being of a later x36 type Bonanza.

Also less power is more fun, realism wise. Anyone can take off and land an overpowered bird.

I would be prone to change should there be more of a difference than performance numbers also, like:
- different sound
- different prop and effects (like in Comanche).

I see where you’re coming from. But I’d disagree to some extent that a P-51 is for sure more difficult to takeoff and or land than a Piper SuperCub with 90hp. Both being taildraggers

I guess that's overoveroverpowered, which is a different bird again, so I agree :D

According to Wikipedia this is true. I also like realism. If the V35 doesn't have a 550 in real life I won't put one in front of it in the sim. Come to think of it, if it isn't according to reality, why would A2A offer the 550 option at all? Scott?

I fly with the 520 all the time, but I'm not sure why :)

The IO-550 wasn’t a stock option on the V35 which doesn’t mean that there’s not V35’s out there with IO-550s. There is an STC which allows the engine to be installed in the V35. So there is real Bonanazas out there with IO-550 installed.

So nothing unrealistic at play here

After some test flights I think I'll go with the 550. Maybe I'll switch back some day, but I don't know.

I went with the 520 with 1200hrs on the clock (Airfame has 5400hrs). Couldn’t afford one with more power/ less hours

I just had to go with the 550 as I grew up in the 60's - got my drivers license at age 16 in 1960. (Vietnam in 1966 but that is a different story)

There were three axioms:
1. There is no such thing as a lady being too pretty
2. There was no such thing as having too much money :)
3. There could never, ever be such a thing as TOO much horsepower

What do we need? MORE POWER!

You can swear by Ram Induction, but it's understood - I got a fuel injected engine sittin' under my hood!
