Possibly a bug with the Autopilot Elevator Alignment Index

Post by P*Funk »

This is what my autopilot looks like when its engaged and flying level and it doesn't seem to match what I believe the instructions say should.

Furthermore when I follow the autopilot engagement instructions found on page 129 of the manual, "Set elevator follow-up index to match elevator alignment index by turning elevator knob or the remote control for the elevator knob located on the pilot’s control stand", the actual result is that the autopilot doesn't match the pitch from when its engaged and I have to adjust the pitch to return to the original climb or descent or level flight resulting in this misaligned indication in the picture above. At no point does the system seem to operate with the alignment index synced with the follow-up index.

Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but it seems like it ought to be a self correcting thing. Certainly the rudder and aileron indicators sync with their indexs just fine, the normal precession of the rudder gyro notwithstanding.
