No idea if this is ok behaviour, but fiddling around with all switches I switched from normal brakes to emergency brakes during flight.
Withing seconds the ac went into a dive, without noticeable adjustments by me nor FE to elevator (trim) settings. This both in sperry AP as in hands-on flight. Switching back to normal brakes got attitude back to normal without intererence from other controls.

Re: switch to emergency brakes nosedives the plane
Hi.
The normal emerg brakes lever should only be moved to emergency once on the ground , with little or no hyd in normal mode , to allow the aircraft to stop , useing emerg brake pressure .
Putting this to emerg position in flight may give same results as a total hyd failure symtom .
This would then lose auto pilot function , and controls would lock , due to lack of hydraulics to controls , also you may have had no hyd pressure in the emerg system , did you notice the hyd pressure gauges on copilots side panel , normal hyd is fwd gauge , emerg press is rear gauge.
regards alan.
