Few queries about the connie

Post by UKJim »

Hi,

So I have a few queries about the connie -

1. I noticed in the manual that rotate speed is 80mph, but the copilot only says rotate when reaching 100 knots (115mph) - which is correct?

2. On the airspeed indicator there are 4 white circles at speeds 100, 120, 145 and 170 knots respectively - what are these indicating as I cannot work this out?

3. When autopilot is engaged and I drop gears, the plane plummets to the ground - should I be disengaging prior to dropping gears?

4. What is the landing runway minimum distance on full load? Cannot see any charts for this one.

5. What is the ideal approach and touchdown speeds on final? From my understanding it should be 100mph on approach and touchdown at about 80mph?

Fantastic plane, really enjoying learning the plane all over again (time away).

Thanks in advance!
Jim

Hi, please take a moment to go through these two posts addressing your queries 2, 3 & 5. I used to face similar problems, but no more. Hope this helps you as well, share your experience as time permits.
