A2A Connie Constellation Question ????

Post by Jetranger7 »

Jetranger here :

I'm curious to know if the A2A Versions feature the "Speed-Pack" option ?????

That would be the feature / option under the belly of the aircraft that holds the luggage and small parcels , that look like a small canoe.

Also does the A2A Version model feature any models with Tip-Tanks ???

Those would be the small wing tip tanks on the end of each wing that hold extra fuel.

That's the only 2 Questions I have for now ,,

Thanks Scott and or Lewis & crew !

Negatory, Jetranger. The A2A Constellation is a L-049, the very first Connie produced by Lockheed. Totally stock. Well, it can be fitted with some modern stuff, like a GPS or the standard P3D autopilot. Other than that, none of the later features that Lockheed developed to stay out in front of the Douglas competition.

While the Speedpak (correct spelling) was used on the L-049 and L-649/749, A2A did not include it in their model. I doubt it will be added anytime soon either as I'm not sure that there's really good source material for it. I have not seen any publication that has actual drawings of the unit, only photographs.

Tip Tanks were only an option on the late Super Constellation series aircraft. As A2A only modeled the L-049, tip tanks are not an option.
