weird shadow on the wing

Post by licht »

I just bought the plane for p3dv4. I find under certain circumstances a weird shade appears on the wings.

Hello licht and welcome.
Are you talking about the shadows under the plane? It looks like a swept wing of a newer jetliner. This is due, I believe, by the very low sun casting shadows on the wings which are angled up upwards from the fuselage towards the tips making them appear as swept wings. Or are you talking about the darker colors on the trailing edge of the right wing. That one I am not sure about.

Cheers

I am totally guessing but that would make me think that it is possibly caused by a graphic setting or hardware issue in the graphic department. My best guess anyway.

Make sure you have the latest GPU driver and try tweaking this visual settings to see if it makes a difference.

I have found the solution. Just untick 'receive shadow' for the user plane.

This seems odd. I could see this happening in FSX but not in P3Dv4. I have all shadows, Cast & Receive, turned on and I don't see this on my system. Maybe it has to do with other Lighting settings or maybe hardware/software issues.

Hi.
To me it appears as if its shaddows cast on bare metal from the props with slight rpm fluctuations and differing wing angles to the sunlight giving an illusion of the shaddows moving along the wing from root to tip.
