Turbulence factor

Post by Artur »

Is there any recommendation for TF ?
Currently i have set TF=0.5 and have feeling that Connie is still too sensitive for wind gusts.

If you're using Active Sky (ASN or AS4) you'll want to turn off the Enhanced Turbulence feature. It makes a huge difference.

In addition, in Active Sky Next or AS4, it's a good idea to reduce the turbulence effect scalar. Default is 70. As a general rule, 30 works better with A2A aircraft and also with the rest of the fleet. I'd make this adjustment and also turn off enhanced turbulence as Paughco suggests, in preference to making any adjustments in the Connie itself. With these settings, mine rattles and rolls, but only a little - atmosphere, not a roller coaster.

Great topic here. I jumped right in with P3Dv4 & ASP4 all within a few days. With ASP4 in stock configuration MY back hurt after a flight. I started turning things down and enjoy it much more now.

I also run Enhanced Turbulence OFF. In addition I've done the following; Max Cloud Turbulence=85, Prevent TS when CB reported=True (seemed I had TS's on every flight if clouds were around), Max Wind Turb=85, Turb Effect Scale=50.

With these settings I get some really rough weather at times but not on every flight. Feels more real than original settings. I'd be curious to see where others have these set, especially the the setting to prevent TS when CB reported. I might try turning that one back on sometime. I still tweak them once in a while looking for that magic setting. Active Sky does such a great job compared to the stock weather engine in FSX.

Cheers
Roger

Thanks Bob. I see you and Alan are both different than what I'm running. It does help to compare. What are you guys running for preventing TS when CB is reported? I want to turn it back on but while I had it on it seemed that all I had was constant thunderstorms. Now I don't get many at all. :?

Thanks
Roger

I keep it checked - the default setting. Reducing the turbulence effect scalar is the only change I've made - everything else is default. I get a pretty decent level of thunderstorm activity, and it usually matches local conditions. I suppose the results depend on the accuracy of local reports. Hope this is helpful.

Thanks Alan and Bob. It seems I remember TS when CB reported came unchecked when I installed. It's checked now and I'll leave it that way.

Sorry Artur, to hi-jack your thread. What are you using to adjust the turbulence? Is it in Active Sky or something else?

Cheers
Roger
