049 service life

Post by Mickel »

Hi

For those who have read up on such things, how long did the 049s remain with the likes of TWA before they were gone in favour of the 749? I'm crunching routes to fly, and not sure whether I should be looking much past the 1947 timetables, or whether they were still about in 1950, if not on marque routes.

I'm using KLM for intra-Europe routes ~'47/'48. Their timetable doesn't list types, so I'm guessing that the run to Geneva-Madrid-Lisbon or down to Rome would be Connies. Much after that, again, I'm assuming they've been replaced by 749s.

I'm over-thinking it, I know... I should just fly the plane. But part of the interest is who flew what, where and when. As many of the liner routes I fly as I can (historic or current) are routes that are/were flown on the schedule they were on (as best I can...). Started checking our DC-4 routes already. :P

Cheers
