Hi,
Did any L-049 models ever have a WX retrofit? Or was the strictly something on the 749 model?

Re: L-049 WXR
There were a few that had the weather radar installed later in life, however, because of the size of the units at the time, this also meant a new nose, similar to the 649/749's radar nose (the longer, pointier one), but with a few minor differences due to some structural changes between the aircraft (AFAIK the shape was the same but the attachment was different resulting in the radomes not being interchangeable).
If you want to install something like the MilViz Weather Radar, there's no reason you can't do so as a window install, but putting it in the panel is pretty much a no-go. There were investigations into more panel configurations being done, but the VC is already at the limit of what A2A is willing to do for polygons without running into memory or performance issues.
