Amazing Connie at night!

Post by Aceman »

I found this clip of the Connie with the flames coming out of the exhaust!! I guess it was pretty normal to see flames.

Enjoy!

The first night I watched it was a little darker, as the 'Connie' climbed out and turned it really did become an impressive site, put 'Rocket Mans' jet pack to shame, even the startup during the day can get quite interesting as see flame lick around the exhausts till 'Poof' large cloud of smoke as the engine kicks in.

Yes, exhaust flames are normal on the Super Constellation (but not the L-049 or L-649/749). In fact, the flames themselves were used by the Flight Engineer to help determine the health and efficiency of the engines.
