A few more flights and I've made it to Christchurch, McMurdo Station and today on to Ushuaia. Getting that far south things are very interesting. The compass does not mean much as the declination is a lot.

McMurdo station is at E166.5231 , S77.96526 and Ushuaia is at W68.29556 , S54.84333. This is, for the most part, an Easterly flight. However, my course the entire flight was 352 deg to 360 deg. Yet flying North the whole time I crossed 9 time zones in 10 hours  . I departed McMurdo shortly after midnight local time and landed at Ushuaia at 19:22 local time.

Perth to Dunedin. It started off being a test flight with my new FS Global Real Weather. 2 hrs west into a 25 knot headwind, then 2 hrs South, then with 50 knots tail wind I just let it carry on. That's what the ground distance is much less then air miles.
Failure was cabin heater so the lat 3 hours was 16-18 degrees.

A few more flights and another pay raise. I'm back in the US now at Houston's George Bush Intercontinental Airport. I've covered a lot of the globe now but not done traveling.

Where is everyone else's log's? I enjoy seeing them. There are some good pilots and log books that are fun to watch develop. Keep them coming folks.

Mostly a short haul pilot, but I have done a couple of long-hauls across the oceans in the bird.

I've been back in the States for a month or so now. My goal is to hit each state (only a couple left now) before heading north to Canada and tour the northern territories. I haven't posted much lately as others have dropped off from posting as well but it is nice to see what people are up to so here is my flight from this morning.

Rapid City, SC (KRAP) to Las Vegas, NV (KLAS). I've had some great flights and some that were quite challenging with weather and other things to worry about. A few flights back I landed in Aspen, CO (KASE) at close to midnight. That was a real challenge in the dark but it turned out well and Betty and I made our way to the Pilots Lounge after putting the plane to bed for the night.

My move to P3D v4 brought the need for a weather program so off to HiFi I went with my checkbook in hand. ASP4 surely does a number for the weather within the game. It's fantastic and I love it but every flight felt like I was a rattle can of paint in a rail-road yard. Constant and sever turbulence but I have the program dialed in now for a more realistic feel. Still have terrible weather that shakes you up at times with the flight ending with a groan from the co-pilot :? (I think he's a big baby but don't tell him I said that). Still loving this plane. I have a few miles on her and she has not let me down yet. I've had one heater issue and that's it so far.

Today's pay raise is cause for another post. Please keep them coming folks.

Hear is a Google Earth track of my flight thus far. I started at Burbank, CA when I picked here up from the factory. I hope the link works after DB did their dirty deed.

Daggnabit! I jinxed myself with that statement. This morning I had a heater malfunction from Las Vegas to Boise. Cabin temp got down to 8C before it I got low enough and the OAT rose. Had to divert to Elko, NV. I won't be banging on my own drums like that again.

Whoo! That's a lot of hours on those engines! How's your fuel efficiency these days?

I haven't really noticed much difference. I'm always looking for that "sweet spot" in cruise power settings. Currently I'm liking 25-25.5 MP and around 1775 RPM. This gets me 175+/- IAS at around 425 +/- pounds per hour per engine. I believe the economy has decreased a bit but short of some serious record keeping over time I'd be guessing to give any numbers.

I'm very careful to never over rev the engines, never go over the suggested MP and never exceed the recommended PSI on the BMEP gauge. In fact, all my power settings (takeoff, climb, cruise) are below the recommended max. And, that is the way I look at the numbers A2A gives us, as MAXIMUM or NOT TO EXCEED numbers. I'm not saying I have not spiked above any of these recommendations, because I have, but I catch it immediately and correct the error. Those engines are my babies so I try to treat them right. 8)

Cheers
Roger
