GTN 650 + Radios

Post by BrettT »

I am not certain if this is a GTN issue or an A2A one. I am extremely new to the GTN. I was messing around with the T-6 last night and was trying to use the GTN 650 to tune the radios for Com 1. Any changes I made were not reflected in the sim/A2A T-6 radios. Is the GTN supposed to be able to do this within the T-6. Any insight is appreciated.

Thanks,

Brett

UGH----I meant to put this in the T-6 tech support...could one of the admins please move it :)

The GTN650/750 actually replaces the radios, it doesn't just tune them. So I think the radio panels are not used when you have the GTN installed.

Brendan,

I have seen where it does that for the Comanche and 172 but for the T-6 it is placed next to the radios

That's right, but the GTN does not tune the radio panels. It has it's own radio built in. It will take over COM1/NAV1. The radio panel then becomes COM2/NAV2.

Thanks,

I will try it again. I had tuned the GTN 650 to 122.00 for the ASN weather report and made it the active frequency and heard nothing coming out. I then tuned the onboard radio to 122.00 and got the weather report. I will double check it gain. Also read on some of the planes that unless the radios are on when the GPS is added to the cockpit that it will not take over the radio functions, so I will check this as well

Tested it out but no coms over GTN 650 in T-6. Maybe I am missing something. The Xpndr updates between the GTN and onboard transmitter just fine

edit - Figured it out. for some reason the F1 control panel had the radios set up as Com2/Nav2 for the GTN to mimic

In the F1 configuration, you have to select which com radio you want the GTN to control. Default is 2.
